Well yesterday the wife was at the hospital getting her broken foot checked out (dropped a 50 cal on it.. whole nother story) and she sees smoke coming from where she parked. yes your assumption is correct. her BRAND new 2011 Nissan Juke (less than 3 months old) burnt completely up and it seems to have started in the engine compartment.

My question to yall what should our next course of action be?.. let insurance handle it?... get on the ball with nissan?.... we are going tomorrow to pick up a new vehicle since she already has one picked out and we KNOW its gonna be a total loss on the JUKE.... what yall think?

HOLY CRAP! I certainly hope the new car isn't a Nissan... :poke What did she decide on and what started the car fire?

She LOVED that Juke... it was a very nice Peppy lil car that got 45 mpg's.. however we are NOT getting another Nissan.... She has picked out a 2011 Ford Escape. She loves the Lime Blast Color.

As for the cause we have no idea. We know it started in the engine compartment. when the FD got there, i spoke to the oic this morning, he said flames were appx 25ft in the air and seems to think it started somewhere in the fuel system under the hood.

Keeping it real with the Blue Oval! :thumb: 25ft flames???? WOW. Glad she wasn't driving it or that could have been REALLY BAD. I haven't heard anything in the way of recalls or anything... Have you been able to get in touch with Nissan and what do they have to say?

Just got off the phone with nissan... gave all my info and answered some questions etc etc.... a "catastrophic failure specialist" specialist will be calling me back in the next day or so so we will see what happens..

I told her the only new car we were buying had to be a ford... she for some reason loves the new focuses and escapes... we would buy a mustang thats her first choice but where i live isnt very practical..... specially come winter time.
