We are planning to have a GTG at my place Feb. 26 2011.
As of now we plan to have a target range setup and plan to waste a lot of lead .
Of course we can jaw jack and look at trucks and grill out.
I will have my camper setup for bathroom facilities if anyone has a distaste for getting intimate with pine trees.
I will set up a shooting lane with targets at various ranges from very close to around 500 yards or more, whatever yall want.
This won't hurt me nowhere near as bad as you guys. I might bring 2-3 guns, if that. I will have to get a permit to bring the pistols, as I've never had one. My hardest thing will be the 4 wheeler.
I could cook or assist Grayson. I don't really plan to shoot anything the more I think about it, just probably stand around and jaw. I'm a truck/hotrod guy, me shooting anything other than a spitball out of a soda straw is probably a bad idea. Do I need to bring the 4 wheeler, or will we even need it?
Since we all like guns, any going to watch the new show coming on the Discovery channel or TLC. The guy designs guns for the military, enthusiast, and does restorations on them. I think it starts Tuesday or Wednesday at 8P.M. central time.
I may bring a couple for show and tell, but me shooting much more than pellet gun may not be smart. I think I may have shot a .22 rifle 10 times, a .410 3-4 times and that's it. Kinda of a gun virgin, that just felt wrong typing that btw. I'll cook and watch, maybe play on the 4 wheeler. I enjoy guns, just not too trusting of myself with one.
Hey Frog, is there a low spot I can back into and unload the 4 wheeler from the bed? Would save me from dragging the 16' for it. Goose, I got a camera we can use. I'll just put a new memory card in it and let you have it when were done so you can post the pics.
Most everyone I know uses small 4x8 trailers. I wouldn't use them anyway if it come to that. I've seen too many of the slip off the tailgate, I've had enough of those kinds of close calls. I'll pull the trailer before I depend on those. I had a half sheet of plywood slide off the back of my trailer unloading the lawnmower with me on it. Nothing got broke, but I can only imagine what would have happened if it had been as high as my tailgate is. I'm sure there's a drop off, ditch or something around. Frog's trailer actually sound's like it will work fine. I might bring a buddy, but the wife won't come. She's not as into trucks and cars as I am, much less guns.
BBQ sounds fine to me just let us know what we owe. Let me know on when you need to number of people by so I can pin my buddy on where he's coming or not.
Might throw a monkey wrench in the alcohol though. Just tell them I'm the dd for everyone. I picked up a pistol permit Monday. Looked around and found some 32 auto shells for dad's old pistol. I'm curious to either shoot it or see it shot. The gun has 7.65 wrote on it, but he kept 32 auto's in it, which I assume interchange.
I'll aim for early, but I work night shift Friday and we may not get off until 2a.m. even if we do go in 2 hrs early. I bought 2 boxes of shells for the 32 and I've got 2 for the .357 so I'm about as stocked as I'm going to get. I finally googled the map and it's 135 miles for me.
I had a video of the tannerite[sp] going off but got deleted some how in the shuffle. These last pics are of the lockers after it was set off. Not the best at taking pics, and probably should have got pics of the people more than the guns. Too much shock and awe I guess. The neighbors even started their own practice, wasn't much comparison though. Frog was a great host and we all had fun, except the ducks. All I can say if you missed it, you lost out on great target practice, food, and hearing loss. I believe we all got some sunburn and I got my ******* look back.
Frog will have to tell you how many boxes of skeet were destroyed and the amount of brass and empty shells were left on the ground. Miss Melody fed us well.
Frog, did we lose any ducks? Toward the end one looked awful close to meeting his maker. and something tells me you need more than gun oil. I bet all that brass and hulls on the ground.Jk That was too much fun.
