Ok, how many of you have had a lift and then returned it to stock? Or who has said screw-it, and just re-geared?

Reason I ask is I am commuting alot more than I was (at least 50+ miles a day), and this 12.5-13.5 mpg is getting to me. My mods are in my signature, so I'm debating going back to stock or possibly regearing.

I have also started towing (my boat that's about 6k pounds or so) on almost a weekly basis, and am really feeling the bigger tires when towing.

What would you do?

I would dump the lift, I had a 10.5 with 46sdropped to a 6 with 37s and still wanted it smaller.

So I have a stocker with 33s getting 18mpg and 15-16mpg towing 10k+ yeh its a different motor but same concept. I was getting like 12, 10 while towing

He has a 7.3 and they do get better milage than us. I had a 8" lift with 38s and now my truck is 3" lower than stock. I'm about 14 in the city now vice 13. And I have 3.73s have not yet seen a dramatic difference in mpg in almost 5 fill ups but I also didn't lower my truck to save money on fuel

If I were driving 50+ miles per day and going for mileage, and towing regularly, I would definitely be running 35s or smaller. And not spending even more money to regear just to keep the big tires. Just my 2 cents because I've been there before.

Regearing is not going to help much besides ease the strain of your motor. You still have a lot more rolling resistance and the heigth of your truck creates a lot of air travel underneath it
