I have a 97' f250 7.3l and I have always used conventional motor oil but I was wondering if I should switch to synthetic because I've heard it's better. My only concern is my truck has roughly 310xxx miles and could I switch with this many miles? And is Rotella synthetic a good choice?

dump it in there definitely wont hurt lol. Your injectors will like it.

I run t5. I've run t5 t6 and the normal rotella. I like the t5. Advance auto has it on sale right now for 13.99 a gallon. I need to go pick some up. I'm in need of a change in a bad way

Truck seems to run better on it. And it's cheaper. Maybe the different weight? Idk

I switched to the T6 5w40 synthetic and my trucks like it alot better then the standard 15W40 Rotella...

When I got my 95 F 350 with 185000 miles I asked the same question and was told not to run synthetic because it would loosen stuff up. Now I'm reading it's okay to switch over???

If you are willing to spend more, get synthetic. I heard good things about the Rotella aside from being cheaper than the Amsoil.

synthetic wont loosen anything up.

most oils have the same amount of detergents to prevent sludge buildup.

you can switch to synthetic whenever you want to regardless of miles.

rotella t6 is a full synthetic, t5 is conventional.


ive used rotella t6 and delo 400 full synthetic. I like both and the delo synthetic is cheaper than rotella at walmart.

Yes switch. Injectors and seals will benefit, easier starting depending on climate as well.
