I’ve looked around through numerous posts and haven’t seen anything related to the problem I’m experiencing- if you have some links let me know!
My truck is a 2004.5 6.0. Injectors are new OEM, replaced about 8000 miles ago (along with turbo rebuild, coolant flush, Egr cooler, etc... while I was in there) It has ARP studs, blue spring upgrade, and bulletproof EGR cooler. Rest is stock. Truck starts great, runs great, and has plenty of power. It’s a little slow to start when cold but I figure that’s just common. Boost builds fine and Oil pressure gets in the high 3000’s on WOT. (Biggest I’ve seen is a spike to about 4200 for a split second) Fuel pump and filter are oem new approx 15,000 miles ago. Ipr valve is new approx 2000 miles ago, and screen was clean on the one I pulled out. FICM voltage looks good. The ipr valve swap did not affect the problem.
Currently the truck drives fine, plenty of power up to highway speeds. It likes to hold the overdrive gear as speed drops down to just below 50 mph. As I get on the throttle A little bit to go up a hill, the ipr demanded shoots up to 86.7% (scangauge 2) but it doesn’t build oil pressure or drop a gear. It will just hold there as I slowly increase throttle until almost WOT. If I slam the throttle it’ll grab a lower gear, spike oil pressure, Ipr Demanded will drop way down, and take off like a bat outta hell.
I’m not thinking it’s my ICP since all pressures line up at lower speeds, or under load like towing or acceleration to highway speeds. Once the vehicle speed hits 55 mph the ipr valve Demanded will “flutter” a little and the truck seems to surge up and down slightly on the throttle (along with oil pressure) although my foot is steady.
I do not have this issue when in tow/haul mode.
Any help or advice is appreciated!! This forum has helped me a TON with getting my truck to a very reliable 330k+ mileage!
