Hey guys im a new member here this is my first post. I recently inherited the truck my dad bought new in 1999, a 2000 7.3 F250. He bought a new truck and told me to do what i wanted with this one. I currently drive a 2005 5.4 F250 so its cool to have a diesel toy. This truck just rolled 410,000 miles and the only thing done to it was cosmetic stuff a starter, oil pan replacement and ball joints. (other scheduled maintenance too). I am currently doing all the body work on the truck and converting it to the 07 look. I need some help with things i can do to improve performance, which injectors ( im sure it needs them after 400,000+ miles) chips, tuners, turbos intakes and whatever else i could do to make some more power without destroying the motor. On another note i can get a pretty good deal on a 6'' bds lift and mickey thompson atz 38.5". do you guys think this would be too much for this old girl. The truck still runs great not as much power as she used to have but im sure thats due to dirty injectors and turbo. Any input or things you think i need to know would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

:ORG welcome: good luck on your truck build, In my humble opinion that is a lot of miles to start modding something, but i would think it would hold together for a while yet. just keep it reasonable. Get a good custom tuned chip from a reputable tuner and some single shot hybrid 160cc injectors and you will get more performance and you shouldnt have any worry of destroying your engine. a GTP 38r is a common turbo also, there is a lot of info here. Just use the search bar and the sticky threads in the performance section, they are your friend.

I agree its a lot of miles but trucks got some sentimental value haha if it blows up ill just have to fix or replace I found a guy with the same truck who wrecked it and is selling the motor with 150,000 miles for 800 w/o a turbo thought about buying that engine putting it on a stand building it up and when im satisfied dropping it in my truck

if you want to keep it just fix it as you go, that seems pretty cheap to me for a low mileage 7.3

Either you haven't learned or you just don't give a crap.

He's got a history of posting one liners and being completely disrespectful of other members. I guess he was born with all the information in his head and never had to learn like the rest of us. The staff has been down this road before with him. No more.

I think what you want to do is fine but go mild on your mods with 400K on the ticker. I would say buy that extra motor and swap it out right away and mod that. You can get mild power improvements with intake, straight pipe exhaust wicked wheel. You can do the high pressure cross over line to get better oil pressure to your rear injectors and it really quiets the motor "clack" down.
If your gonna do the totality: turbo, injectors, tuner etc just swap motors and build the new one. It would suck if you did everything then the motor went.

i did end up buyin the spare motor i think im gonna leave it on the engine stand and do stage 1 or 2 single shot hybrids maybe a stealth hpop, intake, what brand intake would u recomend and would u recomend rebuilding my current turbo thats on the 400000 mile motor or getting a bigger/ better turbo eventually after chip and everything id like to push a true 500 hp

I was going to say buy the spare motor, build it, then throw it in. It's a lot easier to work on these things out of the truck. Heck, I don't want to do my fuel system until I have more than 1 day to do it. But I don't have a spare vehicle like you do.

Heck yeah man, that is a pretty sweet deal, to be able to still drive the truck whle having the motor your building on the stand. As far as an intake goes def. go with a "TYMAR" style intake, you can build one yourself or purchase one, either way you cant go wrong.

now that im scared to give my opinion :wink[3]: i will say if your planning on pushing that kind of HP you might as well get a bigger turbo(rather than rebuilding the stock one), the stock one gets taxed pretty quick when you start adding fuel. it will eitherpush high EGT's or smoke like a cummins or both, once again in my humble opinion :D

I'd would go with Jake's turbo kit from Irate. His kit has a T4 style mount so you can pick from a bigger variety of turbos. The S366 would be a great turbo to go with.

I do have a side question for your lift. When you lift it are you going to regear it since you want to keep power?
