Just bought my first diesel (1996 PSD Ext Cab 2WD) and its time for some mods!
I want to single stack it, but I know the stack kits only come with the elbow, the piece where the stack goes on and the other small pipe infront of the elbow..
The truck has the stock exhaust, so what do I need to do?
Could I just buy a 3in down pipe, and a 4in muffler delete to reach the elbow pipe, from the DP?
If so also what would I use to connect all of it..
A stack kit comes with everything you need, but as far as finding it all 1 piece at a time your going to need an adaptor if you want to run some of your stock pipe, that is 3.5 inch, so front to back all new stuff will be down pipe, a section of 4" or 5" (your choice) as well as adaptor from 3"-4 or 5" unless your down pipe has the bottom built into that size, some flex pipe an elbow with a 90, and a coupling to connect every peice, usually a shackle will work, or some band clamps, again your choice, hopefully I'm giving you a good picture here, to attach the stacks your gonna need a hanger to bolt to the bed to keep it from moving around in there
I have a 3" diamond eye downpipe (2piece) with a 4" MBRP single stack kit and had a 8" stack( stack got stollen).
Ur truck has a cat converter right where the dp (downpipe) ends, so what I did is I gutted my cat and cut the all the rest of the pipe off after the cat outlet, then install ur stack kit after the cat.
If u where to get a cat delete there isn't a hanger that comes with the delete piece, so u would have to put a hanger on to stabilize the exhaust system.

With your extended cab it probably won't reach and you'll need to adapt to 4" pipe from the 3.5" pipe after the cat. If you're leaving the cat that is and yes you should definately replace the Down pipe with a 3" one only tools required for that is a sawzall and a 48" prybar.
For DP, cat delete pipes, or muffler delete pipes I'd go with Alligator performance and for anything else custom wise look at truckpipestore.com good luck!
I made my own stack kit i used 3 inch dp to a 3"to 4" adaptera peice of flex pipe then 4" tp 5" for the 90 degree elbow i have a custom made elbow an **** text me i can sell u everything but the stack tip for 100 bucks not including dp. Shoot me a text 517 610 8229 i can send pics of my stack set up.
