2001 E-350 7.3 diesel 91K 4R100 transmission
Was in stop and go on the interstate, took off after stop, first ok, second ok, then going into 3rd, it was like I put on the brakes. no OD flash same problem in OD or not.
Got it home by driving in second. Checked DTR With AutoEnginuity (showed proper shift positions), Checked SSA and SSB with AutoEnginuity and Dual Volt meters attached at the transmission. Voltage being applied at proper times. Pulled and visually inspected all plastic fuses under the dash, all good.
Drained TC and Pan, no big chunks of metal, faint brunt smell to fluid, real faint, being an optimist, put in new fluid and filter. While I was there, removed and inspected accumulator valve body, disassembled and cleaned it also. Removed and inspected Solenoid pack. Applied 12v to SSA and SSB and heard them go clunk.
Still feels like the brakes are being applied when it shifts into third, just keeps slowing down, till I shift it back into second.
It looks like it might be time for a rebuilt transmission, but my question is, did I miss something????
Are you familiar with this problem, did you ever experience it?
I'd feel really bad if I was the only person this ever happened to.....
Thanks for reading my post,
Zed
