I was here when I first bought my PSD… I initially bout superchips… worse mistake ever… I soon after bought the SCT TSX 8900… It has all of the gages you need and its a tuner… It is pricey up front… But if you think about how much the gages would cost in itself its worth it… I went with Innovative Diesel for tunes… You can buy the tuner and the tunes from them all in one shot… And SCT and Innovative have great customer service… There is also there programmer that costs like 300 and some change or something… But youll still need gages...

You think I should do the EGR delete before I do the SCT? Thats another question, how hard is it to do the EGR delete kit? or should I just have a shop do it?

Get a monitor first!!! You need to check the health of your motor first. You may find out that your oil cooler is clogged, so while you have the motor apart for a new oil cooler, you can do a EGR delete.

You have choices for a monitor. Like DashBoss (iPhone/iPad/iTouch), Edge Insight CS/CTS, or ScangaugeII.

Sure you could go with the SCT Livewire or TSX, but the monitor capabilities don't compare to the above mentioned.

Buying a new SCT X3 from a tune writer will cost $425-$429 with 3 custom. Innovative Diesel and Gearhead Automotive includes 3 tunes in the price, and Quicktricks Automotive includes unlimited tunes in the price.

You can check out Stealth Diesel, they offer a package deal of a X3 with 3 custom tunes from Innovative and a Edge Insight CS/CTS.

You could also buy a used SCT. Then buy a single custom tune or package tunes from a custom tune writer. If you do buy a used SCT, read this link.

IMO, Do your self a favor do the egr delete and flush your cooling system really good then get rid of the superchips thing. SCT from IDP , Eric's tunes are really good. I started out with the X street, street, and his aggressive tow on an X3. then the CAI and exhaust. Now its studded and i have the TSD Super Panty Dropper! these trucks are awesome if ya do them right! Also check into the CCV mod to get the oil out of the intake track.

agree with lilpooh.... get a monitor before you egr delete. if your delta's are more than 12* apart at 55mph cruising with engine at operating temp.. ur oil cooler is going.

Like lilpooh said.. if your going to replace the egr oil cooler should also be on the list since ur in that deep. while your at it.. since you have some coolant spilled.. flush it all out replace with Cat ELC.

As for a monitor my preference would be a CTS because it allows you to monitor the ficm voltage. My livewire is great, but id rather be able to watch the ficm voltage to know it's breaking down

So everyone is saying i should buy the monitor first huh? Ok. I think I am going to go with the TSX 8900 with the IDP tunes. I like that you can do turbo brakes on these trucks. very cool. Just like the 06 and up duramax. Thanks for all the input guys. Appreciate it.
