Hey fellas,

So i've got a 95 F350 Crew Cab, i'm planning on putting on Westin running boards (side steps I guess) on there tomorrow. Got them in the mail today and went to put them on, couldn't due to the fact that the holding bolt on my front leaf springs was put in backwards. Meaning that the bolt end was facing towards me and the nut was facing the middle of the truck, am supposed to remove that nut and put the bracket behind it to hold the steps. Well, that being said, I need to get those bolts reversed in order to attach the bracket to them. Since I don't have the means to take out the bolts, then re-tension the leaf springs I dropped it off at Les Schwab tonight, for them to do it tomorrow.

Do you all have any recommendations? Should I even do side step bars, or just use the Carr step sides? How would I get around paying like $150.00 from Les Schwab just for them to reverse those bolts?

Thanks,

Not familiar with the Westin steps, but just picturing it, here's one idea - sounds like there's a bracket for the step, with a hole that you would normally put on the protruding bolt for the spring after removing the nut, then re-installing the nut over the bracket, eh? Okay, maybe this will work - open up that hole in the bracket so that it's a "slot". Loosen, but don't remove, the nut on the inboard side of the spring. Find a way, without damaging it, of pushing the bolt and nut toward the left, so that the shoulder of the bolt is backed away from the spring/hanger. You only need to move it the equivalent of the thickness of the bracket, plus a wee bit of wiggle room. Then, with the hole in the bracket "slotted", you can slip the bracket behind the bolt shoulder and tighten the nut.
