Hey guys need a little advise here. I have a 95 powerstroke diesel 4X4 7.3, I took it to get the brakes and rotors and one wheel bearing replaced. I dropped it off about 9:30 Am the mech told me it should be around 12 or so. Later that evening I called around 5 pm and asked about the truck. He said going well that it was a BIG BIG job and he should be in a hour. At 9 pm I went over there and it was not finished. He then told me again how it was a really big job and he had 7 hours in it. He said that the calipers were shot and needed replaced he told me that he could not compress them back in to go over new brakes. He is a professional mech but he works out of his garage. My questions are do the calipers go out easily in these trucks, and how long would it normally take a pro to change the others out? I feel that I am getting ripped off by him and that he is going to try to charge me a butt load of money for the work he has already done. I paid him 200. to get the parts needed which cost me 160.00. What would be the right price to pay for this type of work? Thanks in advance

If they are the original calipers then it is feasible that one could get stuck. I had to change a caliper that was stuck on a '97. It froze with pressure on the pads and tore the rotor up (the guy driving it couldn't figure where all that smoke was coming from):tard:. But 7 hours to do that? I don't think so. Like CT Performance said, 4 hours tops, and that's takin' a little beer break.
