Hi all,

I just bought a 2003 F-350 Super Duty DRW with the 6.0L Powerstroke. Nothing special you would say in the US, but in Germany there are only a handful of these trucks. They never have been offered by Ford in Germany, so the only way to get one is to import it by yourself.
What else? I'm in my mid-fourties, happily married, father of a 5 yr old daughter. Oh, work: I'm part of the European Management of a large US based telecommunication company.
Ah, and hobbies: I enjoy offroad racing - Baja/Rallye Raid style - with a modified '95 Grand Cherokee.
I hope to meet many interesting people here and get a lot of useful information - and fun, of course.

Welcome! So do you have to get parts imported too or can you get parts for it over there?

I get a few parts over here, such as brake shoes, batteries, brake rotors. But the more sophisticated stuff I will need to import. My wishlist already contains injectors, EGR delete kit, cylinder head studs and later a new turbo to make the whole engine less prone to failures.

Awesome, sounds like you have done your reseach. It's a heck of a engine if ya maintain it and one big step is joining here so you are on the right track. Good luck, and get the egr delete and studs before turbo and injectors :thumb:

That's great to see that you drive that thing around in Germany, I imagine it's a bit hard when you get into the smaller cities and the small roads!?
I speak German pretty well, I have been there to visit. My mom was born in Mittenwald, Bayern. I'm also a big fan of Die Toten Hosen! :D
Where are you located?
I'm also in telecom here in the US. I work for a major wireless carrier that is owned by DT.

just about any of the egr delete kits you buy are sufficent , comes down to personal preference , head studs , either arp studs part number (250-6301)or the h11 studs , which unless you are goin for big power are overkill for a standard street truck

Thanks Scuffy, thanks Scott,

yes, driving the small roads is a challenge here. It's like driving a super tanker on the Miami waterways. And we live in a small village close to Frankfurt, so that's even a bigger challenge.
Anyway, I wanted to this truck since I saw the DRW trucks the first time 20 years ago in the US :)

What he said, all the egr kits for the 6.0 are basically the same. The big name ones that cost more are mostly just cosmetic stuff like the blue anodized egr valve block off plate from sinister.

Hope you enjoy your truck enough to work on it yourself, being in germany and all :taze:
These truck are really animals when you let the out of their cage (studs and deletes)
With just exhaust and programmer they are shocking.
Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcomes :)

Just being curious: The famous/infamous engine failures of the 6.0L - are these mainly blown gaskets or more severe damages? I can replace a gasket myself without big issues, but can't rebuild an entire engine :)

Really just head gaskets, but if the
