I am getting ready to play with a home brew fuel mixtures and I expect them to burn hot so I am wondering if I should run a separate pyro for each bank or just use 1?


if I just use 1 what is the temp difference in temp B4 and after the turbo if I install in the down pipe?

Drill and tap it into the manifold, down pipe temp is too unpredictable I have heard numbers from 200* cooler to 400* cooler but close to the same when idling or cruising. Usually when discussing temps it is assumed it is in the manifold. Closer to the boom the better.

thx for the reply. do you think i should put 1 in each side or will they be close enough in temp to assume the other side is the same?

They are fairly expensive so I’d say one would be sufficient, if you’re getting the unmonitored side hot enough to damage it then you should be getting the monitored side hot enough to make you real nervous anyway. I like to keep mine below 1000* but for short periods of time I will let it bump near 1500 for a few seconds and I aint afraid to hold it over 1200 for several minutes.

I'd just use one. If the engine is that unballanced then you have other problems. 1250° is sustainable all day long. It's getting over about 1300°-1350° that you start to get into the grey area. And as mentioned you can run above that but at exponetially shorter periods the hotter you go to avoid heat soak and dammage. As mentioned don't even bother in the down pipe. It's not anywhere close to as accurate as you want and can vary from 200° to 600° depending on the situation.
