I have a 2000 Excursion and installed a Pull-Rite hitch system to tow my 29 ft Airstream. This hitch system locks the trailer ball in place and rotates on a trolly under the truck. The swivel point is just behind the rear axle. It basically behaves like a fifth wheeler. No sway at all when an 18-wheeler passes. I just got back from a trip and had a high speed blow-out in one of my trailer tires -- the rig stayed straight as an arrow. I installed this system when the truck was new. Great, great system.

Sorry to hear about your blowout, but it sounds like your hitch setup kept a bad situation from getting worse.
