I have an early 1999 F250. It is a 6 speed manual 4x4. I have a TS 6 position chip. I cleaned the terminals on the PCM multiple times. There is still some tin left on the terminals though. When I install the chip, I observe the following:

On Stock: The truck cranks and drives fine. There are no lights

On High Idle: When I switch from stock to high idle, the truck boggs down then actually idles at under 1k rpms

On 50 and 75HP: The truck drives fine no issues and there is a noticeable power increase

On 100HP: The truck boggs down when I switch it to 100. The truck spits and sputters and will have a short boost of power followed by the truck bogging down. I notice the same on the 140HP setting.

Did the truck drive fine before you installed the new tuner? You could get lucky and have a few corrupt files burnt onto that chip or you need to starting looking at your truck for worn parts. Throwing more boost & fuel at a truck tax's other components like the hpop, injectors, turbo etc. If all these are not up to par then the hot tunes will not work correctly. If I were you I would pull the chip out and have the truck scanned for fault codes, this may give you a starting point.

What Iraqvet said is spot on....Its imperative that there are no injector issues and a good strong hpop..and no fuel restrictions like partially clogged pick ups in the tank...clean fuel filter and good fresh oil change never hurts....but very good chance there could be the wrong tunes loaded on your TS...I had a extremely hard time finding someone who could provide the tunes for TS to work on my 01 X...ultimately made the decision to go with a hydra and soooo glad I did...great guys and awesome service, also you can add tunes via a USB plug on the chip that can be emailed and loaded using their transfer utility software very easy and much faster than mailing chips in the mail....My TS is in the mail again (5th time)..this time for a refund, and my hydra is running great...

Is there a code on the chip itself that should match the number on the pcm? I don't have the original paperwork that came with the chip but apparently the chip was purchased specifically for my truck.

I doubt it will have your PCM code on the chip. neither of my TS chips have a code on them.

Did you buy the chip or did it come with the truck?

Unfortunately your probably going to have to send it to TS to see what PCM it is for or just have new tunes burned on it.

I recommend just sending your chip to CNC Fab and have Corey put some PHP tunes on it. You wont regret the decision. PHP writes great tunes and keep your EGT's in check.

My brother in law bought the chip when he owned the truck. He said when he first hooked the chip up he didn't know he was supposed to clean the pcm lol. Anyways I have cleaned them to the copper and cleaned the chip plug in. I think I will have to send it back.

Do you think it will hurt to drive the truck just leaving it on the 75 hp setting? It drives fine that way.

shouldn't hurt...again all goes back to the tune and how its setup...EGT's will be the biggest concern...but unless you're towing 6K+ with the 75 tune you should be ok...my want to consider investing in a instrument cluster to keep an eye on the EGT...very easy to install...

You more than likely have the wrong PCM code for the tunes on the chip. I can reburn TS tunes or PHP tunes. Only way to know for sure what PCM code is on them is to send it in to me and pull up the files on the software I have.

If they are indeed correct, there is no charge for me to check it out and Ill still pay for the return shipping. If they are wrong, its $50 for TS tunes and $100 for the PHP stock tunes.

That's a hell of a deal. If it does need a reburn spend the extra $50 and get php tunes.
