Best suggestion, increase airflow, and keep the tuning reasonable.
Now with that said, my X-Race - when driven as my DD tune - doesn't smoke hardly at all unless I break over 1/4 throttle.
Looks like you are just getting started based on the sig. Here's how'd I'd make power, with smoke being of concern.
1) Monitor (check link in sig) - nothing like dropping money in power, only to have the truck need something else at the moment.
2) Aftermarket cold air intake (S&B's unit, bar none).
3) SCT tuning (keep the tunes limited to around 400RWHP until you get studded)
4) MTW Stage 1 turbo (again adding air before fuel - if you are going to want more power than stock injectors, you may want to wait and match the turbo to said injectors)
After that, its all about inproving airflow (Intake and Exhaust manifolds, etc.) but you start talking a lot of money for that. You already have the exhaust system on, and its all you'll need in that department.
