While I was turning in a parking lot this morning, I notice a popping feeling from my left tire. Could this be a problem because it might be low in grease? What kind of maintains should I do to avoid this problem? I have 2001 f250 with a 7.3.:dunno: any ideas will help
thanks

it depends if you do it yourself or not...When you do ball joints might want to do axle seals while knuckles are off two, i did mine myself. As far as price its not bad. Just look up any brand of ball joints, I went with Moog (search around for best price) you can get seals from Napa I think they were around 60 to 90 dallor range a piece you will need to get two of them (to seat these you will have to make a tool in order to do so).

Now if your going to let someone else do this I couldn't tell you what that would cost. Maybe 60 an hour at 8 hours seems to be right.

here is a test to see if you need ball joints replaced

1) jack front end up (or one side at a time if you do not have another jack)
2) Grab wheel at 12 and 6
3) Try pushing in at 12 and pull out at 6

If movement is evident then balljoints

For tierods

1) repeat step one
2) Get someone to hold steering wheel
3) Grab wheel at 9 and 3
4) push at 9 pull at 3
5) if movement is there replace

Hope this will help alittle more...
