6.0 Stand Pipe Help

I am in the process of replacing the injectors on a late build 04 6.0 and I dropped the long part of the stand pipe into the engine. It went down in the area around where it attaches to the hpop. I cant see it through the hole. What are the chances of taking off the hpop cover and getting into the lifter valley? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

What? How did you do that? I just did mine, the stand pipe is like 12 inches long. I don't see how you did that. You can only put it in one way I thought. There is only 2 holes one for the dummy plugs and one for the stand pipe. If you did drop something try a retractable magnet, the stand pipe are magnetic. Keep us posted

If you dropped it in the lifter valley and can't get it out via the stand pipe hole your going to end up having to yank the heads off and then your looking at a lot more money as you will have to get your heads machined, buy new gaskets and studs. Good luck you should be able to snake it out with a magnet through the hole but if it fell and is laying in there you might be screwed.

Also the stand pipes are 2 piece so they can split and the bottom can fall in the valley if your not careful.

Thanks for the info. It was the 2-piece design and the bottom part fell into the hole. How far could it drop and is there any other access to the lifter valley other than taking the head off? I have a friend with a bore scope camera and I am going to give that a try tonight.
Thanks

No the only way is to pull the rocker box which is held down by the head bolts or studs whichever are in your engine. Which in turn will break the seal on the head gaskets if you pull the rocker box and then you have to do head gaskets and machine work at the minimum. That is if you can't get it out of the original hole it fell into.
