05 F250 with 6.0L with 140 000miles...bullet proofed...studs, egr delete, stc valve etc...

The truck was having slightly longer start-ups a couple of times recently then would not start...my edge scanner read error 2614 (no other codes)...cam position sensor...figured the cam sensor was dead...pulled the sensor and was covered in metal shavings...this explains why the magnetic CPS wasn't working...cleaned it tried to start it...nope....pulled it again and it was covered with more metal filings...after 3 more attempts (each time pulling more metal off) truck started...there is no "knocking" sound...oil pressure seems ok...what could this be??? does this mean a cam bearing is gone?? now with all these metal filings floating around what does that mean for the rest of the engine...

on a side note I just returned from a long drive (10+ hours) towing a boat (not heavy ~5000 pounds the truck was set to stock programming with tow mode on)...during the trip the wrench light came on and a code for over-boosting and finished the trip in limp mode (once after truck was turned off code went away and stayed away once no longer towing...the turbo seems to work fine boosting up to 24 pounds...also the oil temp was 15-20 degrees below coolant which makes no sense during hours of driving at highway speed ...

any help would be greatly appreciated...

The oil temp sensor is likely to be bad (it just can't be below the coolant temp after the engine warms up).

I would change the oil and see if you have metal in the oil. I would also get it analyzed at Blackstone or equivalent.

take a good look at your oil filter and the shine a light down in the bottom of the housing with the filter removed. If you can see metal particles in your oil that's no good.
