If a chip is burned for a PMT1 (2001) PCM and is installed on a NVK5 (2000) PCM, would that cause problems? Reason I ask, is my chip is burned for the PMT1 and has been ran for some time on my NVK5, but the tranny doesn't shift correctly. I didn't install it or burn the chip, just having some issues and trying to get them sorted out.

Not an expert, but I believe the shift timing and tc lockups are different. Perhaps that is causing your issue. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in.

The PMT1 chip will override the NVK4 PCM. The reason they both work is because the PCM hardware is the same. (DPC-402). Most actually like the PMT1 shift characteristics better.

Ok, well, in an effort to troubleshoot, can I simply unplug my chip and run without it just to make sure that this is caused by the chip?

Ditto what was said above... I prefer the PMT shifting to the NVK...
