My 06 F350 died while pulling into a parking spot and could not get it restarted. We have checked all the fuse, relay, fuel shut-off and fuel filters. We are getting 3 codes on my Bully Dog PMT, P0231, P1000 and and EGR code (forgot exact code). From all of the other threads I have read I am pretty sure that it is the fuel pump. I am considering installing the Airdog II 165 instead of replacing the stock pump. I have the Bully Dog programmer and plan on adding a 4" exhaust and CAI, but that is it for now (propane injection at a later date).

My question is:

If I install the AD2 and bypass my stock frame mounted fuel pump, will I continue to get the P0231 code?

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

depends on the resistance of the air dog pump. if it's got low resistance windings it shouldn't set that dtc

I changed my mind and replaced the complete HFCM. I still have a no start situation. I pulled the cap and filter out of the engine mounted fuel filter and it doesn't seem to be filling the fuel bowl when I cycle the key. I cleared the DTCs and when I cycle the key, it gives me the P0231 Fuel Pump Secondary Circuit Low, P0487 EGR Throttle position control circuit and P1000 OBD Systems Readiness Test Not Complete. Need help!

Could the P0231 DTC be caused by anything other than the fuel pump? Sending unit?

open circuit in the fuel pump wiring somewhere. key on you should have 12v at one of the 2 pins for the fuel pump. the other pin is a pcm controlled ground to run the pump, anytime you crank or the engine runs the fuel pump should be continuously on. when you cycle the key the pcm will command the pump should run for a few seconds then shut off

check your fuses too, could be the old pump popped a fuse if it shorted out

We figured it out. It was a kill switch that somehow got activated by itself.
