What a waste of time to p-pump a 7.3. A cat pump is a much better option than a dinky cummins pump.

^whs, the hypermax kit isn't a bad idea. You are looking at around 25k in parts no matter what. And I hope you are willing to spend another 10k on a block that will hold the power, you are looking at 1000+ hp fuel only with a p pump 7.3

why do people talk about things they know nothing about?

You realize that CAT engines came with BOSCH P series inline pumps, right?

a "Cummins" P-pump is a Bosch pump just like a "CAT" P-pump is a Bosch pump.

Nobody said anything about a Cummins pump. How on earth do you propose using a 6cyl pump on an 8cyl engine anyhow?

I know precisely what I"m talking about. I know that a rinky p-pump shouldn't be on a 7.3l v8... which is why I said to pickup a Caterpillar mechanical pump. Regardless, its a disgusting amount of money and time on a 7.3... and for that money a common rail retro would probably be even better.

I think the better question in, what stock p-pump is 14mm?

you said "dinky cummins p-pump"

I was unaware of an 8cyl Cummins P7100

I am aware of Mack and IH 8cyl P7100 pumps... wait... doesn't IH make the Powerstroke?

meanwhile, those are all Bosch pumps...

Again, what model CAT pump do you recommend for his application?

I dont recommend ANY mechanical pump. For the money he'll be spending, go CR.

he wants to go mechanical... you said a CAT pump would be better than a P7100. Which CAT pump would be better?
cat 3208, massey had a few pumps, international had some v8 pumps, mack has some v8 pumps, john deere has some v8 tractor pumps, hell hypermax actually builds pumps for v8 diesel builds ranging from 13mm-15mm. Lots of options. Perkins has a p3000 pump that MANY others have used.

Ik it would be dumb to spend 20k on this but I've always wanted to drive a dd mechanical 7.3 powerstroke. And I agree with the v8 pump it saves room cuz the straight 8 pump is loooong.

If I had the money I would love to p-pump a 7.3 to dd, but it isn't practical at all. If I win the lotto tho I'll let you know what a p-pump or CR 7.3 dd feels like haha
