[CCA-F450]

Our 01 F450 has been losing antifreeze for a few months now since I replaced a bunch of parts (reservoir and upper/lower rad hose included). I thought I fixed the leak (loose clamp on the return nipple on the res) but I was looking at it last week and saw anitfreeze dripping off the bottom of the radiator. Both the upper/lower rad hoses are dry which leads me to believe it's a hole in the radiator.

Anyways, today our driver called me and said the truck had overheated and the water was boiling over. Anybody have any ideas where the leak could be? Would a leak cause this and what damage could have possibly been done?

it has been pretty chilly the past couple weeks there was a slight spike in the outside temperature today though (high 65)...

I believe these trucks have plastic end tanks on the radiators. If so, I'd start looking for cracks in the plastic or where the plastic is joined to the aluminum portion of the radiator.

You may also verify that you aren't seeing leakage from the pet****.

If it's overheating, it's possible that it was the result of having low coolant (as there may not have been enough coolant to transfer the heat effectively), but you should probably verify that the thermostat is working correctly (opening).

If for some reason you had a big air bubble in the system (air wasn't purged when refilling coolant system), you could potentially see similar results (overheating).

or the radiator front is full of junk. when i changed out to the 6.0 intercooler and trans cooler, i was surprised at how much trash was caught in the radiator. but if its leaking, i would guess it is rotten or cracked.

Pressure check the system and you should find the leak.
