Basically I want to permanently mount a small trickle charger in the engine compartment of my 01' F250. I dont drive my truck alot and I like to keep the batteries charged. I was thinking that I would install a charger in the drivers side front corner and drop the cord out by the block heater plug.

My question is has anyone done this?
If yes, did the charger hold up overtime to the road vibration?

Thanks

I did this exactly like you are talking about. Got the $20 trickle charger from Walmart. Fits between the battery and the front plastic piece. Ran the cord out down by the block heater. No issues with vibrations. Been on for 2 years now.

How many miles (approx) do you have with the charger installed?

I'm just worried about the delicate circuitry not liking the vibration and harshness over the long haul.

Maybe 10-12K miles? I put about 5-6K a year on it.

I also have the same charger installed in my boat. It's been used for many years without a problem and is always hooked up when the boat isn't being used (on the trailer).
