For all you problem solvers out there.... could really use your help on this one...

So a brief history, almost 2 years ago I bought my 95 F 350 psd with approx 150,000 miles, and always ran “ok”. My plan for the truck was to build it up to make good reliable power for years to come. So over a couple months time I upgraded to:

Baby Swamps
Dieselsite wicked ball bearing turbo
Adrenaline HPOP
E-Fuel
Hydra Chip
K&N filter with banks intercooler and 3” downpipe
Gauges and ect

After these upgrades, truck ran absolutely amazing. All tunes worked perfect, making great low end/high end power, very responsive to throttle, and egts way way down.

As you could imagine, it was easy to put the pedal to the floor whenever an opportunity presented itself, which quickly gave me my first problem. I’m no mechanic, but thanks to you guys and these forums, I bought myself an AE scanner and found I over boosted the truck causing it to defuel. Cleared the code and problem solved. Happened a couple more times with no issues after clearing the code.

My current symptoms:

Truck is running like it did with the overboost code, but there isn’t one stored anymore;

Truck starts but takes a couple seconds longer than normal, runs slightly rougher at idle, NO low end power when trying to accelerate @1500-2000 rpms with heavy black smoke, good high rpm power however not what it was.

Boost gauge still registers same numbers, and no significant boost leaks found.

With my AE, I get codes P0478 and P1211 after WOT run.

Also at WOT, my EBP gets to 50psi, ICP tops out at 2460 and oddly holds there, and ICP duty cycle tops at 35%, with MAP reading up to 40psi.

All these upgrades were done less than 6 months ago. I’ve done all the KOEO and KOER tests with the AE tool with no significant findings.

With all these symptoms, was curious if anyone had a direction I could head to figure this out. I’ve spent a great deal of time in my comfort zone, which is behind the computer searching these forums for solutions, but haven’t got one.

Thank you all in advance and I know I probably said something dumb too so I apologize for that in advance as well!

First easiest thing, check the ICP connector for oil. If there's oil in the electrical connector then it's going out.

Also need to know IPR % at idle.

There's a mod to fix the overboost but don't remember what it was.

Is your EBP tube clear? Sensor look ok?

Thanks for the reply brother!

ICP sensor looks good, IPR% at idle is 12.5 and ICP 580.

Funny you mention the EBP, I just cleaned that out an hour ago, but wasn’t too bad and that sensor looks good too.

Since the overboost issue I’ve since bought a boost fooler and haven’t had that code in a while.

Just throwing stuff out there to check: Check for a possible intake restriction and maybe check the BARO sensor for accuracy. Cheers!

that’s interesting you mention the IPR.. I actually swapped that out with an aftermarket one when I was doing all the upgrades to be proactive but maybe it’s just a cheap replacement.. I’ll put my old one back on and see if that changes anything!

I’ll check out the baro sensor too thanks for the recommendations!

The BARO seems OK, it shouldn't change much if any. It should agree with the MAP on KOEO. Cheers!

Thanks for the tips everyone!

MAP sensor is good.. I checked for leaks with soap/water and at idle I’m getting some air bubbles out of the up pipe collector... would this leak be enough to cause the problem?

Well I fixed the up pipe issue and.. no changes... this has really got me scratchin my head and really don’t know where else to look:confused: any other suggestions out there?? Could it be an injector issue??

If this helps at all I also noticed when I had the truck in race tune and everything running good.. I couldn’t be gentle enough with the pedal from a take off and the truck would jerk cause it had so much power ready to go ... now in that same tune I can accelerate nice and easy without that jerk of power

How did you test the MAP sensor?

The charge piping needs to be under pressure to show leaks. The o-ring at the spider is a known failure as well as split or leaky boots going from the spider to the intake plenums at the heads.

If the o-ring and boots are original, I'd suspect they are leaking.
