[04 F-350 ON THE LAKE]

Hi Guys
new here to forum and first diesel. I worked on cars for some time and this one stumps me. I got an 04 6.0 I went to change oil filter and now cap is hitting oil filter stand pipe. Is this supposed to push down or what. I tried to screw the cap on without the filter and stand pipe is holding it up. Same cap as I took off. Please help :dunno:

The stand pipe has a spring on it and it should push down.
