okay so I have decided to park my 00 PSD and start building her up ( I almost haved enough saved up to do the super black mamba install (google it)

so, I bought a 96 F-350 CCLB 4x4 PSD thats fully stock, well until about 20 min ago when I did the 6637 mod to both of them.

my question is, I currently have the bully dog triple dog programmer and I rarely use it on my 00, mostly use it as a code scanner.

but since the 96 and my 00 are the exact same motor can I use the canned tunes in my bully dog in the 96 safely? i really dont wanna turn this PSD into an 8K lb. paper weight.

Im going to be using this truck as my commuter and not for anything crazy...

thanks in advance guys...

NO! Same blocks but not same engines. We have 15* HPOP to your 17* pump. Single shot injectors to your multi-shot. Mechanical fuel up system and pressurization. Different turbos, exhaust, and not intercooled.

Cut out the stock down pipe and replace with a 3". Build from there.

Okay.. sorry Im new to what i call the Gen 1 Powerstroke... if I wanted to grab an intercooler and the piping off an 01 super duty could i just add it or is it more complicated than that? (So that I could get the intercooler back on there at the very least)

Ive already noticed a huge difference in the way these two trucks drive power wise and Id live to get the same performance level out of my 96 thats in my 00... any ideas??? I really do miss the almost instant power off the line my 00 has when I drive my 96...

but it seems my 96 has a longer smoother pull on the power... just slower off the line

^To put it simply yes. The intercooler is nice for towing but with good tuning there are a couple guys on here making 500 HP without it. The injectors in your truck add in the range of 140cu. mm of fuel per squirt. Your '96 only adds 96cu. mm in the same pulse. Smaller squirt less performance. You can use your AD code injectors in your '96 but you'll need tuning and a bigger HPOP (twice the firing twice the needed oil. Adding in your '00 style 17* HPOP would cost nearly the same amount as adding an aftermarket T500, better option for both trucks) to make it work as the AD's squirt twice to the AA's "single shot's" in the '96.

The turbo. The T38 turbo in your '00 flows closer to 900 cu. feet / min to our 700. Your '00 turbo also uses a .90 turbine to simulate more performance when it's only really just adding boost in at a lower RPM to your '96's with a 1.10 housing (the reason for the slower off the line but strong long powerband. Swapping in a 1.0 housing onto your current turbine isn't hard and it's cheap). Adding your style turbo to the '96 isn't easy or cheap but it can be done. A D66 will easily take you to near 500 levels and it's a lot easier to install. Cheap upgrades to your '96 are the complete replacement of your exhaust and intake. Something Ford got wrong with the early PowerStrokes that was fixed on your '00.

Moral off he story is that your '96 can be very powerful but there are more things to buy then just a chip. My '97 easily walks over most trucks up to '08 but I've spent $10,000+ in mods and supplemental upgrades.
