anyone have any tips on replacing the oil pan gasket? or should i just take it to a dealer/mechanic?

Well, there is no gasket as such, it's a super sticky gray silicone you get from IH or Ford.
There are several ways to do it.
Best is to pull the motor.
Next is to unbolt the body and jack it up, then jack up the motor.
Last is to cut out the crossmember then weld it back in.
Any way you choose it's not an easy job.

done it before have we? lol yea not to fun i did it once for a swap bad idea good luck to you boss

It can be a pain. I did it about 5 times on a '94.5 and the whole time it was the HPOP:doh: You can lift the engine enough to get the old sealant off and new on. I removed the tranny for better access.
