'04 Powerstroke, 145,000 stock except oil by pass filter, running fine until did oil change with Rotella T 5-40. Fine

Drove ~ 25 miles, then oil pressure dropped off (it is a switch I believe) at idle, but cam on at over 1100 rpm. Stopped, checked still full of oil and no leaks etc.

Drove it home (after a rough start), and it did oil pressure thing on idle.
Now won't start, although seems to want to catch, but never quite makes it.
No check engine light.

Any ideas anyone on what might be wrong/diagnosis.

Thanks for any insights, I will report on what happens as it does.

No oil pressure showing on dash gauge even after a long crank
Could it be a oil filter drain valve issue? If so how to diagnose.

What brand oil filter is in the truck AND do you know if it has the factory cap? I believe that Wix makes a filter which has an included cap which is larger than OEM. If you were by chance to have a Wix filter and cap, then replace the filter only with Motorcraft, the motorcraft filter would not depress the drain valve.

Next, remove the filter. Depress the drain valve (the drain valve is the single black plastic valve, not the dual metal valve) then have a helper turn the engine over. The oil filter housing should fill with oil, at a constant pace.

Used both the standard cap and one in the oil bypass kit.
It is a FRAM filter.
I will check it tonight as you suggest.

Never used the Fram filter in a 6.0L. Not sure how good they are. Don't like cellulose filter media. Tried to look online to see how many microns they filter to and what percentage but couldn't find anything. Have you got your truck started yet? What type of bypass filter are you running? That shouldn't affect it I was just wondering.

No, still won't start.
Tried a motocraft filter a thicker 15-40 oil too, no difference in anything I can see.
The bypass was on truck when I got it. AMS bypass filter and neat aluminum caps etc, bracket has neat 6.0 cut out of the metal.
I am thinking I must have knocked something out of whack, or just a strange coincidence.
I have had tons of mercedes diesels of 4 & 5 cylinder varieties and always got them fixed easy enough. But this is one complex SOB engine.

Yeah, maybe one of your sensors took a crap. Do you have a scan tool or can you get it somewhere to be scanned?
