Hey guys, im new here so I hope i posted this in the correct area. Anyways I have a DP Tuner and some other small adddictions to my truck and my stock 15 degree HPOP just isnt keeping up. I have been looking into the Stealth SRP1 possibly the T-500. I would rather wait and get the Stealth but is it really worth the extra cost?

It looks like the Stealth is on hold for a short time until the issues with reliability and pressures are fixed.

This was a quote from another forum.

"There are tons of rumors spreading about SRP1's right now. They are not being discontinued and are on a slight hold while new parts are being tooled up for.

Some new internals are being designed currently for future SRP1's. One of the very few remaining stock parts is not holding up as well as hoped so an all new billet one is being made to replace it. The price will jump up on future SRP1's to compensate for the cost of the new billet pieces. I do not have a cost on the price jump yet so dont ask.

Anyone with an older version of the SRP1 can get thiers updated once these parts are finished and proven, just send it in and pay for the cost differance in pumps. If you pump breaks it can be warrantied with parts just like it already has or you can pay for the upgrades. The new pump will also be coming with a much longer warranty, somewhere around forever.

If you have questions about this please wait for more news to come out, please do not call Gary and bug him it will only delay the pumps even further if he is on the phone all the time.

Thanx, Bean"

We have not had any issues with the T500.

my vote is for the T500. i'm running it and it holds up great. there are a lot of guys running it with small hybrids. i think they said its get up to about 230/200, but don't quote me on that.

the stealth is great but i dont think its necessary unless you're running big hybrids. a lot of people think otherwise, but thats how i see it. i would much rather pay 350 for something that will do just fine than pay 1000 for something thats a little overkill.

I have to say that my truck felt very sluggish after I installed my SPR1 this past spring. My stock 97 15 degree pump only had 80,000 miles on it and I wish I would have left it in or at least kept it. I sent it in as the core. My performance seems to have noticably dropped off with the SPR1. I guess I will be calling Gary after a bit to find out what I can do about it.

I was going to go with the terminator pump and really wish I would have. It would have been 1/3 of the cost and it would have used my excellent stock 15 degree pump as the base for the T500 and not some pump with perhaps 300,000 miles on it.

I would check your ICP, you may have a issue with the IPR or ICP sensor. I just upgraded from a Terminator modded 17 to a SRP1 and it's a huge difference. I can maintain 3200psi with my DP tunes where my old pump would drop off to 1800psi but I attribute that to age.

Well I would need it to be good for some hybrids, kause my 15* barely kicks it for my stock 120cc splits

How does one go about checking the ICP or the IPR sensor?

Is there a link on how to do this? I would think one would need some type of diagnostic tool to check these items? I just notice my truck take slonger to start than it did with the stock pump. It seems like it has to build up pressure before it can start.

I was sold on the virtues of the SPR1 by several vendors and by reading this.

"The Stealth SRP1 is the latest addition to Stealth's line of Powerstroke performance high pressure oil pump systems (HPOP). The SRP1 is encased entirely in the stock HPOP case and designed to be a direct replacement for the stock pump. The SRP1 has all new pistons and slipper feet that are much larger than the stock items allowing for an oil flow increase of up to 50% more! Most competitors stock case pumps add a 10% increase over stock with nothing more than a swash plate angle change. This pump is made with new wear part items, where other pumps just “check them for wear” and reuse these parts.

Another improvement the SRP1 features is increased thread surface area on the outlet fittings. Adding 100% thread surface area provides more thread holding power to prevent fitting “blowout” under high pressure. The inlet and outlet passages have also been ported for more flow and less cavitation. By comparison, the SRP1 provides the best performance at the best value".

the srp1 is 700. then if you want to go bigger than that it jumps up to 1700. i just think its extra money spent that wasn't needed. but to each his own.

T500 is around $350, SRP1 is around $600

I'm surprised (or perhaps naive) that no one has suggested Adrenaline. Especially with these prices. An Adrenaline is 680-700. Again, I've "read" great things about them but you guys might know something secret that I don't.

Edit:

T500 is around $350, SRP1 is around $600
Every time I see your signature, reading all those mods over and over and over and over again never gets boring. xD

I'm looking to upgrade my HPOP (not trying to thread jack), little lag on 140 tune but I'm not wanting a $1000 pump would a 17* SD pump be sufficent for bolt-ons (TS-Chip 140 horse tune, turbo-back exhaust, intake, & intercooler)?

Well, I can't help myself, I have to post on this one....

to the previous poster : yes, a 17* HPOP would work, but you would, in my opinion, be better off getting a SRP1 or a T500 from Joey. because their Quality Control would be a lot better than any of the normal rebuilders. you cannot even get a new pump from Ford or IH anymore, so you would be stuck with whoever's rebuilt the parts outlet uses....

now, on the Stealth :

I have had one on my rig for about 8 months now, (all I do with my truck is tow with it, so it's loaded 98% of the time, 20,000 GVWT, truck and 5er) and Gary has been VERY GOOD about taking care of me. and, yes, there have been teething problems, about which I will say only this :

sometime, despite the best efforts of man, the Power Gods just decide to have something go Kaput.....my pump croaked, and CaryT (OBSWIZ) and Gary had another pump to me AT NO COST the NEXT DAY..... it just doesn't get any better than that folks....

you can probably get a pump cheaper somewhere's else than Stealth, but it's not just the pump you're buying, it's the support of the folks behind it....

choose your own poison folks, but choose CAREFULLY.
