So I'll drive it 100 miles with the stock program ecm in and that might work.
I don't think you need that many miles but the trucks ECM has to communicate with all of its sensors so many times to lock and have no codes.

Can't you just put your ECM back to stock. Do you have the tuner ?

I'd just try putting it back to stock. I just recently went through this. Had a egr delete ( which the guy didn't even catch) and put a tow tune on, well long story short I failed, because for whatever reason the truck wouldn't clear the p1000 code. Roll the dice and return it to stock programming drive the truck and it clears the p1000 and never got a code for the egr being gone and mine is a 2006.

Go up into a county in the Sierra Mountains and get yourself a PO Box. You can register your truck there and not be in the smog program. Now there is the fact that you will need to remove items from the box. Or you can let it close and just go to DMV and tell them your PO Box is messed up right at this moment but you will gladly pay for your registration now that I'm at DMV. LOL


This sounds like a good idea, but is it? How long ago did you do this? Just last year?

I'm doing it still today. Look on the DMV website and look up counties in the smog testing program. There is almost more of California not involved with the program.

I have mine in Calaveras county in Dorrington. My first F250 I bought with a working EGR system but had 4" from the turbo back and the cat had 4" welded to it so it was still in the system. First time it passed, then two years later they failed it because you cant modify the exhaust from turbo to cat converter. So I said the hell with this testing and got another PO Box.
My current truck is also 4" from turbo all the way back with a empty cat. I welded up the EGR cooler so its at least looking pretty. So I got nothing on the truck and its staying that way.
I don't know where Commyland is in the state "lol" but you can look up what county is closest to you not in smog program.

Look up Smog Check Program Area Map once on the DMV website.

A full map of the state comes up and it has all the counties in and out.

Okay, need some help please. I go to get my 03 6.0 checked yesterday, the same shop that passed it two years ago, they failed it because it came up as having a 14k motor in it, plus a modified FICM (I got the BPD power supply recently after my stock and remanufactured failed). They gave me the number for the referee, which I called but they said I need to call Monday because my report has not come up in the system yet.
I don't understand what is going on, I brought the truck in 05 used, taken it in every odd year to get inspected, now this??

Just to add something the shop said; they said they have seen this on several 03 model years lately, their theorie- Ford must have run out of regular 6.0 motors, and put the 14k model motors in some vehicles during assembly.
Does this make sense to anyone??

What is a 14K motor ??

Its only going to get tougher, they are coming online with new equipment for testing the diesel trucks. EPA started out with visuals only at first because of the financial pressure it would put on the shops for testing. But as time goes by they have to come up to speed and have the smog equipment for doing a thorough inspection like they do on gassers.
If you have a PHP tune in the FICM they will absolutely see it. Power supply has no logic so I don't think its a power supply issue.

Yeah they said it has a different motor in it, a motor built for the heavier duty trucks, doesn't sound right to me either.
I've looked at the oasis report, the truck was originally delivered and sold in Canada, but no motor change.
Thanks for your help, I knew something was up, they are up to something different than previous years.

Yeah, I guess I'll have more information when I talk to the smog referee next week. I might have to get a new FICM, dunno. The only thing different on the BPD FICM - I activated the 50v wire.
