So i just bought this truck for $2800 I knew going into this that it was gonna be a project but it will be worth it. I also have a 6.0 and have gone threw the pleasures of bulletproofing. Im in no rush to fix it but i only wanna do it once.

So the previous owner said he was driving it and it lost all power and the check engine light came on. He drove it home and parked it. All he knew was there is fuel in the coolant.
So It got dropped off at my house this morning with dead batterys ugh. I drained the coolant and it stinks of fuel

After charging the batteries i got it started. Definatly has a miss, sounds like a bad injector. After replacing a couple fuses i got the OBDII port working and pulled the following 4 codes
P0381 GLW PLG IND CIR ER
P0472 EXH BK PRS S CIR LO IN
P0562 SYS VOLT LO
P1316 INJ CIR IDM CODES DET

So i plan to start tearing it down to the top of the heads and pull the injectors. If i see rust or discoloration on the injectors ill pull the cups. Im also gonna get the injectors checked. Any one have any other advice or can explain the codes or expereince with these problems? Thanks

That's what I was thinking... was reading an issue of Diesel Power this morning where they replaced the injector cups, and the symtoms you're discribing sound exactly like that... fuel in the coolant. Be nice if that's all the issue is, you got one heck of a deal on that truck!

I don't think I've ever heard of orings causing fuel in coolant. thats usually oil in fuel or fuel in oil I believe.

It old my wife those were Chevy stickers , she thought I was full I crap lmao

it's odd how its not even uniform when it hesitates. Have you checked ICP? check UVCH connections.

The Diesel Power artical clearly states that the injector cup keeps fuel and coolant seperate. Check the June 2012 issue, page 144-147, has good pictures of the install and the tools needed.

Ok so I checked the injector wire harness and the passenger side was almost all the way unhooked. I halfway buttoned it up and started it. Now it runs so smooth. It takes 3-5 seconds to get started though. I'm wondering if it's a high pressure oil leak because there's a lot o oil on top of the motor in the rear.

Go ahead and replace injector cups, change oil and coolant and see what happens. I bet the slow start is from air in the hpo system
