Got it off. Thanks yall!

Seriously though, I'm going to put in a new steering gear and drag link. Is there any 'indexing' of the new steering gear to the drag link? The steering wheel and wheels are currently 'straight ahead'. But how do I know where the new steering gear is set up when I put on the new drag link?

Go off of old one and mirror it onto new DL. Pitman arm goes on same position as old one. Then take to a shop for an alignment.

There is suppose to be a master spline. Replacing the steering box does not require alignment.

Got it.

There are 4 'big splines' but that means you can put on the arm 4 different ways. Fortunately, only one is right and it's pretty obvious. LOL. Anyway, couldn't go off the old one because it was damaged about a year ago so bad that the steering wheel was about 90 degrees off. It was in a shop for a quick check and all other components are undamaged. Just the gear. The driver hit a rock in a pasture so hard it must have skipped teeth inside. Its been driven thousands of miles that way. LOL. Anyway, with the new one and the wheel straight, and the wheels straight, everything lined up and is straight. Works much better now.

Since it hit a rock that hard I would recommend an alignment check. But since its been driven thousands of miles since and if the tires are wearing even it should be just fine.

They got the alignment checked immediately after whatever was hit. The alignment was 'fine' other than the steering wheel being way off. I have no clue how the hell other stuff was not damaged.
