Oil and coolant temp sensors are the same p/n, try swapping then to see if the oil temp appears and coolant temp goes away

So I have an 04 f350 and its ran fine for as long as ive had it. But taking a look around at this forum I feel I should start looking at my oil temps. However when I plugged my scan tool in to look at live data it said there was no oil temp sensor. Taking a look under the hood I found the sensor but the computer seems to think it isnt there. In fed up with it at this point and I'm considering just leaving it alone and adding an aftermarket gauge. Which is something I was going to do anyway.

I was looking at these, if ive read correctly that cap fits an oil temp sensor on top. Just wondering everones thoughts and opinions as well as if this will work thanks!
Ive tried two different scanners so far. Both say the same. This is most likely a scanner issue. I've never had a problem reading any temp sensors on a 6.0L.

Interesting, I use blue driver Bluetooth one. It works fine on my ranger but I guess this is different. Its your scanner. Ford doesn't play well with alot of brands. Look up forscan with a laptop (its free) and either a bluetooth to OBDII or usb to obdII adapter or use forscan lite on a phone/tablet. You can also purchase torqpro for andriod and use an elm327 bluetooth to obdII adapter.
Alright that's good to know thanks.were not here to BS you. MANY SCANNERS simply don't play well with Fords proprietary ECM/TCM programming.
Scangauge
edge insight monitor
phone or tablet with forscan lite and a bluetooth to OBDII adapter
phone or tablet with torqpro and a bluetooth to OBDII adapter
laptop with forscan and a usb/bluetooth to obdII adapter
the most common prooven reliable sources for reading and diagnosing powerstrokes. I have a newer top shelf scanner that doesn't work on ford powerstrokes if it helps at all.
Torque Pro costs $5 IIRC.So I have an 04 f350 and its ran fine for as long as ive had it. But taking a look around at this forum I feel I should start looking at my oil temps.
