I love my 6.0, since I have a 6.0 and it's an 03 it makes me want to make it a bad azz 6.0 since a lot of diesel nuts talk smack about the 6.0. I have read all the bad info out there on them and know that it's up hill for me since I have an 03, the year they proba ly had the worst problems. I guess I have already got a tast of the problems, I bought my wife an 03 excursion, it had 130k miles but she wanted an excursion and I wanted a diesel and the price was good I felt. Well we have already has to replace the #8 injector (wondering if the dealer actually replaced it or not.) Issues with the EGR valve (build up) some other things. Well $2700 in repair work late I'm getting codes (same one b4 it was supposedly fixed) #8 something (basicly injector), erg insuf flow and now a code saying about the "came". These are the same codes given b4 it went in the first time, since the dealership warranties its work it has to go back, I'm worried that they may not have fixed it right the first time. They said they replaced the #8 injector, did an EGR system flush, an EGR kit, oil change ans fixed some fuel lines. Now I don't know much about diesel mechanics, I've learned alot since getting my 6.0 and from this site but after they fixed it the first time I wondered how they fixed my injector, I was told that most likely the body would have to get taken off since its waaay easier but yet no signs the body was messed with, so ok maybe they did it the hard way but there was no sign the motor was even touched. Dust/dirty areas showed no sign of any work, no greasy rub marks, motor wasnt washed. They claimed they did egr kit but when I took erg valve off the other day it was very very sooted up and inside did not look it had a "flush" done. As a matter of fact the rubber rings on the valve were the same, how do I know, well the first time I took it off I "nicked" one of them and sure enough it was still there. We have only put 5800 miles on it since it was fixed the first time but again it runs like crap, same codes, EGR valve very sooted up (unk if it will get that bad that soon) its not driven slow, only idle is occationally when someone runs into the store real fast. It's never gone over 90 mph. Only mod I have is an edge with attitude platnium and of the 5800 miles since its been on, 60% it was set on economy and maybe 40% it was driven on tow mode. Never had it higher than tow mode.
So I don't trust the dealer but have to take it back for the warranty wrk, Im looking for a 6.0 mechanic in the Albuquerque NM area that won't take me for a ride and knows 6.0. I want this baby to be awsome and show people that a 6.0 can be great. It scares me cuz I know when a diesel goes dwn they can be very expensive to fix. An Abq ford dealer mechanic told me to do an egr delete, head studs, exhaust and cold air intake and I would love my 6.0 and probably won't have any major issues again. Any help would be great, any info on a mechanic name would be great. It goes to dealer tomorrow for their work warranty, took the edge off cuz unk if they are programer friendly. I don't care for 7.3 so please no one tell me to ditch it for a 7.3
I know I went on and on but just trying to give some history, oh ya my coolant level dropped yet its never got hot, no signs of a leak ANYWHERE, nothing showing in the oil. Only thing I noticed was some wetness coming out of tail pipe. No white smoke (has been smoking little more but only on exceleration. The wetness don't smell like coolant, don't feel like coolant. Looks and feels just like water. So I can add that to the list of "what now".
