When I am going down the highway the truck feels almost like a trailer is attached to it. The egts rise with even the slightest incline. I can't maintain less than 1200 degrees on any kind of hill. I have checked the brakes and I have checked for resistance from each hub and rear axle. Could it be the t case? I am really at a loss this has gotten progressively worse over a year period. I just can't seem to find this mysterious drag.

It has gotten to the point I can barely travel on the highway.

Alright let me drag this back up.

Since this initial post I have done the following:

Had holder's rebuild injectors
Mishimoto intercooler
Went down from a s366 to a fmw s362
Pressure checked the intake system no leaks
Checked brakes for drag everything spins freely

This has all netted me cruising temps of 1100 at 70.

I see you checked brakes did you check E Brake.
Shoes are inside of rotors mine would drag. Locked up rear axle once, backed up and went forward no problem.
They have since exploded in their so not driving it till i fix it.
Ford tech. a snowmobile buddy said it happens often.

E brake works great and causes no drag.

Tossing it out, but do you have trans temp gauge? If so, are the temps higher? Slipping maybe?

Temps are the same as when it was installed at BTS.

possibly drive line issues ujoints froze up? Are you stuck in 4 wheel drive low.

I am positive I am not in 4 wheel drive low or high.

Well this is still a problem of mine. I have recently done an 08 suspension swap with new calipers and left the front driveshaft off. Still have a mystery drag accompanied with high egts. I am truly out of ideas.

Things replaced since last update in the effort to fix this:
08 axles
new brakes and calipers
removed front drive shaft

Any more ideas?

I would be curious as to what your numbers are during normal, unloaded highway cruise are? Like, boost, load, back pressure, MAP, etc. Have you checked to see if the exhaust is restricted? Broken CAT?

Ive been through this in all my trucks actually.
91 F150- Passenger side wheel bearing
98 Dodge- Driver side wheel bearing
98 Dodge 4x4- Both front axle u-joints and driver side wheel bearing, also the passanger side brake hose had collapsed causing the brake to stay latched to the rotor.
2005 F250 4x4- passenger side front axle u-joint

Lets just say I have terrible luck with u-joints and wheel bearings... :dunno:

EDIT** Also, my 98 4x4 had the CAT get clogged up and it felt like I was pulling a trailer until eventually it just gave up and died... Man that truck was a PITA now that I think about it. lol

Exactly what I was scrolling down to suggest

the exhaust restriction makes sense to me worth a look

cat and muffler if equipped

5 inch exhaust, 4 inch downpipe, no cat, no exhaust leaks, no leaks are present. This was going on with a factory charger and up pipes as well as a powermax and an s366.

Now I cruise around 1050 going 75 down the highway. I also have a very healthy transmission. I am looking at t-case and doing gears. I have 35s currently.

It put down 632hp with the s366 and 190/75s with this issue. I have been battling this for some time.

Things I have done since this started:
mishimoto intercooler (shaved very little off maybe 50-75 degrees)
holder 225/75s (also had Warren 190/75s doing the same)
adrenaline hpop (had an hpo leak so why not)
borg FMW 362 (Had a stock, powermax, and S366 doing the same)
T4 divided up pipes (factory up pipes had the same issue)
Replaced egt gauge and probe (no change)
Gearhead tunes lots of them (no change on full fuel or partial fuel with any of the combos)
08 axles new brakes
removed front drive shaft
BPD oil cooler delete with mechanical fan clutch
ccv reroute to atmosphere

I also say we need numbers... like a picture of your monitor on level/flat ground at 60-70 in finally gear.

Since you are running a tune, it sounds like your final gear is to low.

What would you like to see? Between 52 and 65 it makes me want to play in traffic. It is a smokey $%#! show. I feels exactly like towing a decent trailer around. Once I get above 65 it is much more manageable. This is why I am looking at gears, 4.30s.

Have you tried returning the tuner back to stock? That could eliminate the possibility of tuning issues all together.

What do you monitor?
EGT, temps, icp, icp duty, vgt duty, boost, FICM main, batt v's

I would be curious of the ones I stated above and a few others. Boost, back pressure, load, MAP, ECT, EOT, trans temp, RPM.

The truck would run like total garbage on a stock tune at this point.

What a have monitored cruising at 75 on flat ground

Egts - 1050
Trans - 165
EOT - 195
ECT - 205
RPM - 2000
Volt - 14.2
FICM - 58v (at all times)
Boost - 7-8 psi
VGT - non vgt turbo
ICP - I will have to check cruising temps. It maintains full icp at wot but that's about the extent I have monitored closely.

I will work on getting the rest
