Well, I am bored at work and this section has been dead for awhile, so I thought I would try and revive it.

I bought a 2004 F350 6.0 for $2K off craigslist with 345K miles totally stock. I leveled the front and then raised the rear an additional 2", running 35x12.50 tires all the way around. Had a one piece driveshaft made for the rear, ordered a set of PMF rear traction bars and blocked the rear suspension solid. I hang about 7-800#lbs on the front depending on weigh in and event rules. Most of the classes I pull in are an 8K# limit. Transmission and Engine are stock. Stock bottom end and heads with TTY headbolts. Yes, no studs yet! Even still has original ford hub lockouts on the front.. Running a Turbo from KC turbo's, ODawg ported manifold, Holders 205/30 injectors, BPD 54V FICM, Custom Tunes, turbosmart BOV, BD diesel boots, a beans sump with an Airdog 4g II pump and regulated return.

Halfway through the season, swapped out to BD Diesel manifolds and up-pipes, installed a front locker, and deleted the A/C system. Been a fun season, ran 9 events total for 2019. Got 1) 8th place, 1) 4th place, 1) 3rd place, 2) 2nd place, and 4) 1st place finishes, giving me a 2nd place overall for the points series.

Huge help from Toren ( @toren302 ) at Ranaway Diesel and Nick ( @nighthawk285 ) for some good deals on some used parts!!!

here are some pics and some links to some videos.. Enjoy!

Impressive! That's crazy you're doing all that with those mods on the bolts still. Maybe those bolts were made on a Wednesday!

Thanks.. it kind of got to the point, with that many miles, lets just run it til she lets go.. but she held all season. Everyone else in the class runs a Cummins and towards the end of the season it was pretty comical.

The one at the Spokane fair was the most entertaining, Afterwards they open the grandstands to let the crowd come down. I had quite a few guys swarming my rig asking questions and saying how much they liked it and weren't really talking to the Cummins guys.. they weren't the happiest :hehe:

@[email protected] send this man a Tshirt!

A shirt?.. I need parts! :hehe: j/k

I didn't miss 1st place for the season by much, and the first pull of the year I had a rough go, so I really think I have a shot for a 1st place for 2020, but anything can happen!

your competing/placing with what 650-675 hp truck?

whats the rest of the field like? is it a stock appearing/work stock/2.5 class?
ya.. I know everyone says elsewhere in a 2.5 class I wouldn't be very competitive... but for this area and for our rules its working. I ran it on the dyno back in sept and got 552.. if i remember right.. and all the bolt ons on a 345K long block I figured that wasn't to bad.. Rest of the class is all dodges in the same HP range as well. There is one other 6.0. He placed 3rd in points...

its basically a step above stock around here... don't really get into full competition rigs til 2.6 class. 2.5 is still street legal with a couple of modifications.. such as hanging weights, duals, and solid suspension are ok... Limited to turbo size and stock OEM drivetrain, as well as OEM fuel tank, radiator and battery location. Rig has to be currently registered as well, all DOT electronics have to work, horn, wipers, headlights, etc.. No cut and or pulling type specific tires, has to be DOT compliant rubber.

I want to step up to 2.6.. but that's going to be a pretty hefty step at the moment and just not quite there yet.. hopefully someday..

That's impressive on stock head bolts. Better buy some lottery tickets. Lol.

My shop 6.0 still has stock head bolts too with 380k, but still stock injectors.

it may or may not be leaking some coolant... :look: but I have owned the truck for 1 year.. and put maybe 3 miles on it.. just on and off a trailer and 2-300ft of some pretty hard runs.. :hehe:

have another 6.0 shortblock and a core 5r110 that are hopefully gonna get rebuilt this winter..

Well, COVID-19 put a damper on my 2020 season, but finally got to an event.. and it felt AWESOME! Quite the drive, but worth it.

Hooked first time, flagger at the end said I got 256 but I was about 10ft past the 300 ft mark, so I asked to make sure sled was set in the same spot when it left, and he confirmed and then said their GPS reader for footage wasn't reading properly.. so they let me fall back to the end of line.. and re-hook

fist hook:

Second hook I came out and got a 298... almost had it...but still good enough for 3rd out of 8..

second hook:

I don't know if its the "best".. but its suiting me very well. And its fun to show up at a pull, get ragged on by everyone, until we hit the track. Not saying its the best rig out there.. and it has lost a couple events.. but its always a blast!
