Hey everyone, I will be medically retiring out of the army and moving up to denver area at the end of the month. One of my main concerns is that my 05 6.0 has an egr cooler delete. It does have a cat. Ive heard that theyll pass with the cooler delete and ive heard they will fail. Anyone know what im looking at here in CO? What about the random highway testing thingys?

Thanks

Ps first time in Colo.

Depends on what county you're in.
Do you know where in CO. you're coming to?
But all you really need to know is 1) Make sure you CEL light isn't on - it's an auto fail.
2) most places for emissions just do the opacity test. So, if you have a tune or chip - just set it to stock or an econo tune and you should be fine. I haven't seen anyone fail yet for an EGR delete up here in Littleton (just south of Denver.)

*edit - just saw you're here in Denver.
I used a shop down here in Littleton for my Emissions - it's at 470 and Ken Caryl. (Excel Diesel)
But if you're in Denver - Diesel's Only at Alameda near I-25 is also a good choice.

The side road inspection stations only do gas vehicles.

Talk to Jeff (Rattlesnake18) he should get you the info you need

Agreed... As long as it has the EGR I don't see a problem with that, because that is the actual law that and that is a piece of emissions equipment. Just hope you don't go down to Colorado Springs for emissions testing they don't follow state standards at exhaust readers. They are the only place here. I would also ask around to see what shop is best, because some understanding better than others.

Appreciate the help everyone. I would have replied sooner but im getting everything ready to move. I guess from what I gather that if I return to stock tune ill pass the opacity test. I just need to find a place that wont visibly check for the egr cooler. I do have the egr valve in place and plugged in. Any and all listings of shops that dont look for the cooler in addition to the ones already mentioned would be helpful.

Thanks everyone

Thanks for the info guys, just did my emissiobs test last week. With stock tune, I was 0% opacity for all but the 50mph test which was 1%. I just called the shop first and asked them what they are looking for and asked if they are only checking for cat then I nonchalantly asked " so you dint open the hood or anything? " they said no and ive got me my colorado plates already. Well, im off this weekend to hit up loveland.
