Hey guys and gals,

I plan to move to Colorado sometime this year or early next year. My fiance is already there in Aurora. She is going there for pharmacy school. So I would like to move out there ASAP.

My truck has 20x12 wheels on my truck and 5% tint on all window and a strip on the windshield. So will I be pulled over every day? I don't know the law on how wide your wheels and tires can stick out? Probably can't stick out at all:(.

Also what about jobs out there? I have my CDL class A license and have lots of experience running heavy equipment. Anybody else do this for a living? Does it pay well out there? I know I've seen some stuff for oil fields up by Greely I believe making decent money.

Thanks
Bret

When I lived in aurora I didn't have any problems and I was straight piped on my car. They really don't care about minor stuff from my experience. I do recommend not living in aurora it's kinda ruff. I had a friend shot and killed and had a drive by on my apartment complex. I'm not sure about the jobs because I moved to the western slope.

I live in the Denver area and have never heard of anyone being messed with for tires sticking out. There are quit a few people running around with large lifts and wide wheels and tires that stick out. As for the tint, Not sure you will really be messed with much about that either. Hell, I know some guys that have their whole front windshield tinted and they don't get messed with> Could they mess with you? Sure, but probably only if you get pulled over for something else.

As for work.... Having your CDL will open a lot of doors for you out here. Being able to operate heavy machinery will help you even more. There is A LOT of construction work being done here in the Denver area, so there are jobs to be had. One of the bigger construction companies out here that are building all over the place here is Ames Construction.... Ames Construction

Yeah, Aurora is ghetto for the most part. I would highly recommend NOT living there, there are many other places in the Denver area you could move to and be in a nicer safer area.

Commerce City isn't the greatest either. The yard I work out of is in Commerce City and I only go to that town because of work.

Thanks for all the answer's and info. She really doesn't live in Aurora, I guess it's considered unincorporated aurora. It's by Quincy and e470. I was looking at apartments near "The southlands shopping center". It seems really nice there.

Dashy,

Another thing to consider is Diesel Emissions....

With you considering South Aurora You will have to pass Emissions. There are ways around this. One have a physical Address somewhere that diesel Emissions are not needed.

I have a house here in Florida I plan to keep when I move out there. I was going to keep there truck registered here. So there is no emissions. Do Y'all know if I can have a Colorado license and keep my truck registered here?

:D No none of the maryjane for us. She has never done it.

No, you can't have CO plates and have it registered in another state.

haha... I had to read that twice... I would keep everything in Fla... it will be a pain to renew but just pay up as far as you can before you leave (we get 3 years in va if I do it online)

I guess I misread that Eli.:look::hehe:

Either way, he will get hassled if he has a CO drivers license and a truck registered in his name from another state especially if they look at the issues date of his license and the dates on his registration. He might not get much flack at first, but over time it might catch up, IF he gets pulled over.

Well I would keep my license in FL but if I get a job there they might require me to have a Colorado license.

Can't wait to move out there. Tired of this Florida heat and humidity. Looking forward to meeting some of y'all and coming to some get togethers. Wish I could be there this weekend for the truck fest. Down here in Florida there is nothing diesel to do. Maybe once every 4 months there will be sled pull within a couple of hours of where I live.

I once had my job in Michigan, my home in New York ,my cars registered in Maine and my drivers license out of Maine. It was a pia to do taxes but not illegal.

Just keep the Florida plates and license. If you get harassed tell them your Florida address is your permanent one and your colorado address is your temporary address.
