I posted this but didn't get much response. I replaced the front ball joints and checked all tie rod ends ect and everything is tight. I took it for a ride and I can't keep it straight. Someone said its memory steer and the ball joints need time to set. Also I replaced all the calipers, rotors and pads did a ps flush and vacuumm bled all the brake lines. Took it for a ride and after a few miles of driving and breaking caused the brakes to grab and not let go. Took all I had to get it home and once back the breaks were smoking hot all four corners.

What do you think?

Did you notice weird steering symptoms after replacing everything? I'm just not sure if the alignment will solve this wonder. And my brakes are still acting up bad.

I have the same problem with the brakes. And I changed all four calipers pads and rotors. Were your slide pins all froze up on you? A few people told me that the ABS module would be the part to change out. But they are $700 plus the core change..... HA. It's ridiculous. I'm just waiting until I find one in a junk yard.

I don't think my truck has abs. There are no sensors anywhere on the hub or brake area. The paint on the pads would make sense. The fronts were a little snug going in but the backs slipped right in. So for all the brakes to grab would throw that theory out the window. I could see if it was only the fronts but it's not

my slide pins were rusted out and sticking. I landed up putting all remanned assemblies on the front because it wasn't worth doing the parts individually. But it sounds like this may be your problem. I'd definitely clean them, and then test the spring's ability to push the pin back out. Otherwise they will stick.

I've never heard of memory steer before (but who am I??). I think you're having a serious alignment issue. Do you notice vibrations when driving especially at higher speed and matching the speed you're travelling at? Have you had your tires balanced, rotated, and aligned? If you were out to begin with you'll have uneven tread.

Do you have a track bar or steering stabilizers if you're lifted?

I mean my old calipers I had to beat off with a sledge hammer so ya they were frozen. Could new calipers have frozen pins right off the bat?

No lift, brand new tries just mounted and balanced awaiting alignment. Problem is I can drive it to the shop to get aligned cuz the brakes lock up..can't win with this one. I havnt been able to drive it far and feel for vibrations but it seems smith to me

Did you replace the rubber lines yet? Sometimes they get internal tears and act like check valves. Auto part Metal
and you don't have that wire on the fronts?

Ya deffinetly no wires. I did the ball joints and never took a wire off when I disassembled. The truck did sit for some time before I bought t and went through everything. I can tell you that I tried gravity bleeding and nothing ever came out. I hooked a vacuum to the bleeder, popped the mc cover and I pumped the brake at each corner to suck the crap out of the lines. Got the fluid pretty clean after a while. But I bet if I cracked the bleeder to gravity bleed the line nothing much would come out. That's if gravity bleeding even works...

Just thinking here, because I'd hate to waste brake fluid, but as there any other liquid you could overfill the tank with the lines open to see if it flows with gravity?

Figured i would update everyone on the brake issue. I bought and replaced all the rubber brake lines for all 4 corners and also the one from the rear axle to the frame and what do you know, all my brake issue went away. Cost about $100 for all the lines from NAPA. Took a little while to bleed the system good but once i got it, the brakes grab and let go with ease.

My new problem is that my ABS light came on recently. When i did all the brake work a month ago, i never removed any wires or plugs that would represent ABS. So i figured that my 2000 didn't have it. What could the light on mean? Do i have ABS?

Sounds like Your truck has rear ABS only. The sensor is located on the top of your differential. Its picks up the speed reference on a plate that is mounted with the ring gear.
I fought my break problems for months, replaced callipers 2x. Pads, all the lines, n was still chasing the back ones freezing up. Every time it would go away when I cracked the bleeder. Finally figured mine out n was the master cylinder was bleeding by the front reservoir to the fear and not relieving pressure.

The pins don't generally come with the calipers. It's where you put the bolt in to hold the caliper. The whole pin should slide freely. Very common for them to rust and stick.

hucorey that would make sense. I thought that was a speed sensor or something, never really thought it could be ABS. Chances are i have a bad sensor then?? When i rebuild the rear brakes and hubs i pulled that to fill my axle with fluid. But it was fine after i put it back in but now its acting up.
