First post...here we go... 02 7.3 with 155,000 miles. About a month ago, my SES light came on while towing a long steep grade, but went off awhile later. I noticed that it lacks a little power while towing, but seems fine around town. I took it to a local mechanic and he tells me I need the following:
-Boost leaks fixed: wants to install 2 lower intake tubes, 4 lower clamps, 2 upper intake boots, 4 upper intake clamps, remove and reseal intakes.
-Replace passenger fuel line (leaking).
-IPR and IPR pig tail
-IPC and IPC pig tail
-Turbo pedestal seals
-High pressure oil pump (says it tested fine, but he should change it while he's in there due to mileage).

It seems like a lot of parts. Does this sound like what is needed as a legitimate fix or that he's throwing parts at it?

For a boost leak check this out. Easy to do. http://youtu.be/Z3HmH86CCXE
Pull your connector off your icp and check for oil. If there is oil in there it needs replaced along with pig tail. Easy job just make sure to solder and heat shrink the connection. Butt connectors are junk. If you never soldered before strip back a few junk pieces of wire and practice. It's pretty easy.
Leaking fuel line needs fixed no matter what. Where is a video. http://youtu.be/PL0oGliNJjg
Turbo pedestal orings. Are they leaking?
Hpop I would leave alone. Tell you get everything back together and you can test it.
I recommend getting the torque app for an android phone and a blue tooth obd2 adaptor and you can check your icp pressure and see your ipr rating to see how your hpo system is working.

Great videos! Thanks. I will do the boost test over the weekend. I'm not sure if the turbo pedestal is leaking. I get the impression that he knows its something within that system, so he is just going to replace everything. Not necessarily the route I would prefer to take for the sake of $. Do you know if anyone sells the bluetooth obd2 adapters in stores, or just online? That app looks awesome!

I'm not sure of any places that sell them locally.
