Looking at getting a 7.3 need some opinions
Hey guys I'm new here and I am looking to learn a little about the 7.3.
I have owned nothing but gm gassers and am new to diesels but i have done a lot of reading.
Anyway I have been driving a whole lot more for work and my current truck a 2006 sierra denali awd 8" lift and 33's gets about 13-14 mpg and its was killing me. So I picked up a car to use as a DD. Now I have the truck forsale and I am looking to pick up a used truck i can use for work (towing/hauling/plowing) So i'd be putting 7K or so miles per year on whatever truck I decide on. I am open to cummins 7.3 powerstroke or duramax.
I got a call with a guy interested in trading my truck for his plus cash. He has a 2002 7.3 F-350 lariat ext cab short bed with 16x10 and 35's at tires he has 175k miles on it and has a brand new mbrp exhaust, intake gauges (which aren't hooked up yet) and a DP tuners module. I am going to take a look at this thing friday night. Is there anything I should be looking out for? any issues once you start getting up to that high of mileage? Again this truck will be a worker not a DD. Thanks for the help guys.

If he's offering you his truck PLUS cash, your robbing him blind for that truck. I'd steal it if I were you. Just make sure the truck starts good, idles, romp on it and make sure it drives good and shifts good. Check the oil and coolant and basic stuff. Make sure 4bi engages. Basic stuff on these trucks.
check the oil pan for rust. check for blowby take off the oil fill cap while the motor is running and turn it upside down. place it back down on the motor over the oil fill hole if the cap dosent blow off you are good to go.
