I replaced my side mirrors (heated with turn signal) today with an aftermarket model (SCITOO towing mirrors) with great reviews. Harness connectors fit well and operated the mirror adjustments, so I reassembled everything. Then after it got dark, I noticed that my instrument panel lights and tail lights no longer worked, but both did come on when I adjusted the driver side mirror in either of two directions (I think down and left, but I'm not sure). Hazard lights and turn signals worked fine.

Any idea whats going on?

the likely culprit is a blown fuse.

I checked fuses and found that the new mirrors were blowing the heated mirror fuse and the external light fuse. Decided mirrors had defective wiring and returned them.
