On a 95 7.3 how do you know you have your banjo bolt in right when you install a new lift pump?

don't overthink it - be sure to use new copper crush washers and tighten it down nice and snug. The orientation of the bolt itself can only go 1 way.

But the bolt has to holes on the sides for fuel flow. So that doesn't matter as long as the bolt is tight?

That is correct, as the inside of the banjo fitting is recessed to alow the fuel to pass by regaurdless of were the banjo bolt ends up after being tight.

^he's right. I see where your confusion came from now - no, the holes don't need to be aligned. In my last post, I meant "oriented" as in which side the banjo bolt is inserted through.
