Hi everyone,

I'm looking to get a cold air intake for my truck, She's an 01 F250 7.3 and after doing some research both the K&N and S&B intakes come up frequently. and both are 299 on amazon.

Which one do you guys recommend and will get me the most bang for my buck?

Thank you.

Get the 6637 conversion kit from riffraff.

If you want it to look good, s&b. All out performance and don't care about looks, 6637.

Hi Jasper thanks for the reply,

I was thinking of going with the S&B because of how simple it is to install and the guide it brings, I'm having trouble finding the 6637 for my 01 7.3 do you happen to have a link or a video that explains where to buy it and how to install it?

It's actually easy to install. I'm sure someone here can provide you with a picture.
Check riffraff for the 6637.

S&B is the nicest looking intake kit for the money, but if want to go the cheap route like a 6637 type filter, at least buy a good one. AFE BHAF is cleanable and flows way more air than the WIX/Donaldson/etc brands.

I thought the cleanable ones were actually bad? Mainly because it's so easy to not do it right.

I'm stock on my 2001 but I did the 6637 on my OBS and liked it.

The 6637's tend to cause more smoke and higher EGT's when going with 160cc or larger injectors.

I've been using oiled filters for years and my KC38R has about 60k on it and 3yrs old. The compressor wheel still has the blue paint pen marking

Haven't been on your site in awhile. Good to know you carry options as well.
Have you by chance tested one of riffraffs blue filters?

I have not, but other customers of mine have. I recall one fab'd up his own intake and added a second 6637 filter because his truck was too smokey.

I asked him to remove his filter completely for a quick test drive and his numbers went way down, so he added the second filter.

I went with the AFE Momentum HD intake system for my 99 about 3 years ago. Bought an extra filter and carry it in the truck. They are washable - I can change the dirty one out on the trail and clean it out when I get home or to a camp site with water.

any cotton type filter will let in dirt which is no good for the turbo and engine. search Spicer air filter test for proof.
the Ford AIS system provided clean air and good airflow. there are ways to make direct air into the inlet. if u drive in 40-35F and lower mpg will drop with direct cold air intake.
