Hi Yall,
I just got a 2004 6.0 with 97,000 miles on it for my wife and it's already giving me a headache.

It started when I was out of town, apparently it started running "bad" and the check engine light came on, she took it to the dealed and was told they could'nt look at it for a week so she had a local diesel shop pull the codes, she did'nt write down what they were but she told me that he said he thought it was the map sensor since it was throwing a variety of codes (Low boost, and some sensor codes). He took it for a test drive and of course it ran fine, so he cleared the codes and sent her on her way. When I got back home i drove it and it's been fine for a couple weeks now untill yesterday, we were pulling out of a parking lot and had verry little accel and I noticed I could'nt hear the turbo, so i put it to the floor to see if it would either kick down into a lower gear or start making some boost, but it acted like i had'nt done a thing, just slowly accelerated. once we got up to about 55 I again tried to get it to shift down or accel and nothing just slowly accelerated. No smoke and no check engine light, so I pulled off the highway and shut it down for a while. Started it back up and she ran like a champ. The only thing that is a constant that is kinda weird is that it don'nt seem to make boost untill it shifts into second gear, like if will pull and then shift and then bam you have a ton of boost. So any sugestions from the stroke experts on here would be greatly appriciated.

Sounds like a failing MAP sensor. They will work intermittently when they start to fail. They usually work fine in the morning, and then start to give erratic readings as they heat up from engine heat. Check to see if it's actually working or just replace it. It's $60 from the dealer.

So how did it work for you? Mine keeps getting worse. I suppose it's time to get off my *** and change it.

Well I haven't had any boost problems since I put the new map sensor in but I'm having a whole mess of new ones. The P.O.S. has started stuttering like a 7.3 with a bad CPS, idles terrible, but no codes and it's all intermitent.

Well I took it to a local shop and the mech thinks it may have something to do with the EGR, he said that he thought ford had a work around for it so I guess it's back to the dealership if I can't troubleshoot the harness.
