Spartan, AFE 4" Stainless Exhaust and S&B CAI Intake all came in today as promised form Cobbs. :thumb: I went ahead and installed the tuner with the DPF on tune and installed my CAI. The DD took about 45 minutes the first time and the CAI had some parts that was a PITA and it took about an hour to put it on. I am headed to my dad's shop this afternoon to do the exhaust and add some shims to my carrier bearing and then it's on to the 310!

Thanks again to Cobbs for very good and fast service!

Why do you need shims on the carrier bearing?

Looks like he needs it cause his truck is lifted. Lifting screws up the driveline angles and shimming the hanger bearing helps correct this to help eliminate NVH. (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness)

Well I got it all on last night. I ran into a few problems. The bolts for the downpipe that came with the kit were too long. Bad part is, I knew that. I read that somewhere and forgot all about it. Luckily the bolts in my carrier bearing bracket were perfect and I had stopped at NAPA and got some longer bolts for it. The stock exhaust came out very easy and the sensors came out extremely easy.....except the pressure sensor. It was cross threaded into the stock exhaust from the factory. Also the small tube for it was broke off and just sitting there. I believe that was already like that too but I am unsure. I tried super gluing the tube back on but it wouldn't stay. So I ended up just plugging the sensor to the harness but it is not actually doing anything. I'm hoping this part doesn't even matter. Does anyone know? As far as the quality of the AFE Exhaust it was great. I looked very good, went together very good and fit under the truck perfect.

So for the fun part....HOLY S&%@!!! I couldn't believe how fast my truck was and it sounds great. I was running the 150 DPF on tune on the way over there and it was about like my Hypertech so I wasn't really expecting the truck to run like it did. I dare some little punk to pull up next to me in a mustang or rice burner or something. They better be prepared to pull over because they won't be able to see after I smoke them and there is a cloud of black smoke in their face.

Congrats again bud. I wish you'd take that picture out of your sig though. I was set on just a leveling kit and 35"s on my stock 20s when I needed tires but you're making a case for going bigger. Looks awesome.

:hehe: Thanks I really love the way it looks. I had planned on getting some KMC Monsters but now I wouldn't change it for the world. Those factory wheels look great and they are still tucked enough where they aren't spraying everything all over my truck.

Give an update of how the exhaust sounds when you get it together. I am torn between leaving the stock exhaust with just a delete pipe for ease of returning to stock or going with the AFE 4". Does your's have a muffler or not?

The exhaust sounds really good. It's quiet on the inside but has a good deep rumble on the outside and looks really good too. Mine is straight all the way with no muffler.

Everything has been fine so far but I only have a a few thousand miles on the tires. I had a friend that had 15.50's on a 10" rim which is basically the same thing and he never had a problem.

the problem will be down the road.they will wear very quick from the balloning they are doing,i think your truck looks great, but every time i look at it, the wheels are sticking right out at me...13.5 on a stock rim is way too big,its only recommended to go down no more than 3 inches and your somewhere around 5 i think ,again your truck looks good but the ballon tire look kills me every time i see it....go with the monsters or whatever you like but your tires will thank you for it real soon @5k miles

Not true, I have 15.50's on a 9" wide wheel no problems for over 1 year and 34,000 miles later there barely half worn.

I was thinking about doing that too to make it easier for warranty work but then figured it would be a little to obvious if my stock exhaust was filled with soot. I did the DP back flopro with no muffler and it sounds awesome! I'm pretty sure the 4" sounds sick too. IMO don't go with flopro though, rust spots already showing up on the "Stainless" ha

No pissing match just stating that it can be done with out weird uneven wear or ballooning of the tire. Just rotate them like any other rire and shouldnt be a problem. although i would not go any narrower than a 9" for a 15.50. I did have 12.50's on my stock 8.5" wheels with out any issues as well. I'll be stepping up to a 12" wide wheel soon though just because I like the look better.

And his truck is sharp looking.

I do know that it's not recommended to run a 13.5 on an 8" wheel but I just can't help it. I've heard a lot of comments saying that it was way too wide of a tire and that they would wear really fast, but no one has had a story to actually back that up. I do believe that it's a good possibility, but I love the way it looks so it's just a chance I'm willing to take. I don't mind at all being one of the guinea pigs. If it does work...then everyone can save money and get some good use out of the factory 20's. If it doesn't then we all learn a lesson by what I've done. It's a win win to me....
