Ranch hand has been around the longest, all the others are copys. They are great bumpers, I have put them on all my trucks. Frontier gear look good, but lack the 4" pipe in them which is what makes a ranch hand so strong. The absolute best is south texas outfitters when it comes to ranch hand style bumpers, but those bumpers are PRICEY!

I have been looking for a while and I think I'm going to go with the Ranchhand legend. I just emailed south texas outfitter for a little more info and price on their bumpers. I figured what the heck, I'm only about 15min away from them. 2008 Ford F250 Legend Front Bumper

For a bumper like a legend series from STO, with out a winch plate it will be in the $1600+ range.
And a Ranchhand legend is what $1200? I heard back from him and STO's has a 5" pipe. here is what he said. "My front bumpers begin at 1295.00, a receiver is 99.00 with install at 95.00. The rears begin at 589.00, a receiver is 99.00, back up lights are 189.00 and if you have bak up sensors they are 199.00 reinstalled, there is a 65.00 for install. Both of these bumpers are to be in black. If your truck is two tone and want to match the bottom paint there is a additional 239.00 per piece charge." I guess I need to get a quote from Ranchhand and see what the difference is.

Try and find a ranchhand outlet, they will have some special pricing. I got my front bumper installed and color matched for $1200, and the rear installed and color matched for $650. That was in 08 and I know steel is a little higher now but the deals are out there.

go to boerne and talk to them in person. they get blemish grill guards all the time and a full replacement can be had for about half of what they sell for new. some of the blems i saw were simply a wrinkle in the powder coat. i never lucked out and found a blem for my truck just a bunch of grill guard blems. they were pretty cool guys there that will help you out. it is off i10 right as you get to boerne about 10 mins from 1604

I found my RH front and rear replacement on Craigslist for $650 total, HECK of a deal. Ranch Hand is a dang good product, Frontier looks good just not as strong. I would say check craigslist, I have seen numerous good deals on ranch hand products.

Ranch Hand is heavy duty, 289 pounds of heavy duty. The stock bumper is a measly 62 pounds. Not sure about the frontier replacement.

theres no pipe on mine. idk what brand my rear one is since it does have a pipe. but again, it all depends on what your front frame mounts can take. the rh will not bend as much as your frame does :hehe:

The ranch hand front replacement comes with brackets that wrap around the frame and bolt to it on each side and use the tow hooks to bolt it on top. These brackets are stout stout stout and it reminds me of an adults hand wrapping around a babies hand....If that makes any sense.

The frontier bumper is like 168-189lbs something like that. I was looking for One specifically when I found this thread. I really want a frontier b/c of the look on the truck is cleaner than a big piece or pipe and along with that everyone has one. I figure if I trash the bumper insurance will be used to repair the truck any ways same as the ranch hand. The frame will buckle and total the truck reguardless of the bumper on it. A buddy of mine had a frontier on his dmax and it held up pretty well to pushing trees and pretty much anything else. Are they lighter? Yes. Are they stronger then the stock bumper? Yes. At some point a bumper is a overkill. Hopefully ill find a frontier for $500 or less. Or ill build one like it

if you or your friends have the capability, make a bumper yourself. I did mine and was able to make it as strong as i wanted while still getting the exact design i wanted. The RH and frontier bumpers are a lot simpler in design compared to the fab four/road armor bumpers, so you may even be able to make one in your garage with the right tools.

Put an Ali Arc bumper/grill guard on my 450. 80# total weight built out of hi strength Aluminum. It is polished and look great. Might not stop a Mack Truck but then if it did you would be a hurting unit too.

Looked at RH Buckstop, and a few others, just wanted something that "looked good" and was effective is deflecting deer, not something that was built to plow thru buildings.

Guy here ate a deer one moring on the way to work with his 10 450, $8k later he got it back. Most of the expense was the coolers up front, bumper (POS) and hood.

I would rather replace a $1500.00 bumper than be left on a tow hook and have to shell out that kind of money to fix.

Something else to take into consideration the 250/350 frames are designed to absorbe the impact (IE they bend/compress) the 450/550 frames are designed to be replced a head of the Front Axle. Either way it will be expensive. If the bumper /grill guard absorbes some of the impact the frame will fare much better and the repair cost will be cheaper or might just keep the insurance guys from totaling the truck.

2 cents from the cheap seats
