I have a late 99.5 PSD with the 6spd. I have the 6637 intake and getting ready to do 4 inch downpipe into 4 inch pipe straight dumped in front of the rear tire. For what I do the truck has plenty of power. I dont really know if I get compressor surge or not? Dont know what it sounds like. My question is will a wicked wheel give me any benefit with the simple mods im doing? Im always about more turbo sound so does the WW make it any louder? does it hurt fuel mileage? Thanks!

good luck with the 4" downpipe, there's a reason 3" is common. if you don't know that you have surging, you probably don't have it. it will add some whistle but shouldn't be any real change in power or mileage

The 99-03 7.3s have no problem fitting the 4" down pipe. It's the OBS that have the fun times with em

 well, I learned something today
Your truck is totally different from ours... a 4" slips right in.

I think a WW is definitely worth it... if your truck surges. With the straight pipe and intake, you'll definitely be able to hear it surge (if it does at all).

I have heard it as well. Is it easier to replace it w/ or w/o taking the turbo off?

if you use an impact gun its just as easy to leave the turbo on.
yall are lucky! I have to pry the crap out of my firewall just to get a 3"dp

I would go ahead with the wicked wheel, it will add more whistle, especailly if you have doone the foil-delete.

ok I know most people on here dont like this place, but powerstrokehelp.com, has a pretty nice video on installing

whats your hp goals? Are you tuned? If your staying stock, you probably won't get comp surge, but most likely will with some good tunes.

Well if thats the case because I hate stupid neighbors.... get a high idle tune, remote start, a WW, and 5 inch straight pipe exhaust. Fire that thing up in the am real early with the remote with the exhaust pipe facing their house and wait...

This...

If you're not tuned don't do a WW. You'll gain nothing and possibly loose a little.

Once you're tuned, if you're gettin surge, do one.

If you're not, stick with what you have until you can replace the severely limited stock turbo.
