I have the same starting problem that gets worse with cold. Engine will fire and runs for a few seconds but stalls if left idling. If I start and rev the engine to 2000 rpms, the engine will stumble from 2000rpm to around 1000rpm and catch continue running. I don’t think it’s a good idea to rev a cold engine but it’s the only choice right now. If I don't rev the engine it will take 3 to 6 times to get it started depending on the how cold. Warm engine is no problem. I removed the filter canister to replace a leaking fuel and found the IRP electromagnetic actuator was just floating on the shaft. The nut and spacer were in the engine valley. Any chance this would cause the problem. Told by a mechanic that it was the pressure regulator telling the engine there was too much pressure and shutting off the fuel flow. He cleaned some screen but the problem returned a few weeks late. I can't find the screen or the mechanic.
